LETTER OF MOTIVATION

Global energy consumption is growing rapidly as the world is developing. However, oil and gas
resources will be much less accessible in future, and far more advanced technology will be
required to extract them. This means that the future hydrocarbon production will deal with
unconventional resources, such as shales, gas hydrates and tar sands etc. The petroleum industry
therefore needs more highly qualified engineers specializing in a wide range of areas. Petroleum
engineering is one of the major fields in the world that witnesses rapid growth. The high
demanding energy needs in the world has made the field full of challenges. The world around us
relies heavily on energy. Being a key component of manufacturing and production, energy needs
to be secured for affordable supply to consumers, while reducing environmental impacts. Hence,
it makes a necessity of more advanced researches in this field. Another point to become a part
of petroleum field is that, probably petroleum engineers would have the best world travel
experience.it is because most of the companies go on oil exploration sprees across the world.
After reading the course curriculum, I have found that modules offered by Technical University
Clausthal will cover all the areas which will suit best for my dream master course. I firmly
believe that, I am competent for this programme with my academic and professional
achievements.

I successfully completed my high school from Mary land high school in the year 2012 with an
overall 97% marks. During this period, I performed as a leader in national cadet corps (NCC),
which is the first step for students who seek to join Indian army. Being a leader, helped me to
improve my self-confidence, team spirit and personal disciplines. Immediately, after my high
school I joined in Nirmala higher secondary school Chemperi for my higher secondary studies in
biology science during the period of 2012 to 2014. I passed out from Nirmala HSS with an overall
of 78% marks. Then after I joined petroleum engineering in Aditya engineering college, Andra
pradesh, I chose petroleum engineering in spite of its challenges was because I am guy who enjoy
facing challenges and risks in life. During my college period I was a member of JNTUK university
football team and selected as the captain of the team for twice. Being a captain of football team,
brought me to know how one’s emotions especially enthusiasm, could motivate others. We, from
different places, celebrated our wins and cried during our loses together.

After completing my bachelor degree, I worked for nearly 1 year as a production engineer in Yuko
tools limited Chennai. From here, I learned to analyze and present production and process data,
information and trend to management. Each day as an engineer gave me new lessons and
doubled my interest towards working in oil field. Finally, I planned to broaden my knowledge in
oil filed in order to give more participation in oil field from my side. I found out that Germany is
the best country to expand my knowledge. Furthermore, it is also known as the place of
engineers.
The work as a petroleum engineer provides excellent opportunity to pursue career in different
areas. The areas of work apart from field engineering include project management, business,
supply chain, research and development. Being exposed to such work opportunities petroleum
engineer can be a versatile asset to an employer. Also, the work in the oil industry is
commensurate to the high rewarding salary. The social package provided includes broader
opportunities available. On top of that, the labor market in oil sector experiences high demand
for petroleum engineers within 10-20 years. The demand for young specialists like me will grow
and there will be no problem with finding the job that suits my career goals. My goal for nearby
future is to obtain necessary qualifications and expertise to pursue a career in oil industry, and I
hope that University Clausthal will become the starting point of my bright career as a petroleum
engineer.

Moreover, universities in Germany have closer relationship with the companies. German
universities offer excellent teaching and research, ranking among the best in the world and
provide outstanding academic programs. Along with the educational growth, I believe that
exposure to different cultures, traditions and people will help me to grow. In addition, I am very
interested in learning German language. And I already have started studying German from home
country itself. I believe that a person who knows both German and English can live anywhere in
the world without language barriers.

The location of the university attracted me a lot. Clausthal is a small town in Lower Saxony and is
one of the best attractions for those who love wintersports. I would like to explore the cultural
and historical importance of the town. It gives me immense pleasure to pursue this master degree
in University Clausthal, one of the oldest universities in Germany. Since it is one of the oldest
universities in Germany I am sure that the faculties and laboratory provided will be of world class.
With my academic, professional background, personal ethics and constant desire to learn, I am
confident that I will be able to do the best in this Masters. I have the confidence to prove my
interest and competence in the field and if I get the opportunity, I will prove how better I am in
this profession. I strongly believe that you will find in me a deserving and creditable student for
your renowned university.
