Hobbies that Stick

with unique hobbies she pertains based on her feelings in the moment. Out
of her many hobbies, two of them are especially meaningful to her: writing
and cooking.

Many teens these days hate writing as they automatically connect it


with school. However, writing poems to Ms. Rodriguez

B orn in El Salvador, and raised in Dallas, Texas, fifteen-year-


old Consuelo Rodriguez is an average teen girl
means letting out her emotions fly free onto her paper when she feels
stressed.

“The moment I feel stressed I rush to my room and grab my


notebook and let my emotions control my pencil.”, says Consuelo. “I also
find myself jotting down random stanzas for various poems I work on
when I am feeling inspired.”

But what does Ms. Rodriguez do when she has free time and feeling
joyful? Cooking and baking have been her forever hobby thanks to her
parents who are both excellent at cooking traditional meals.

“Since living in El Salvador I would watch my parents cook but
hobbies was never old enough to help them out. But the moment I turned seven
cooking years old in Dallas, Texas I was able to help out in the kitchen” The first
joyful Salvadorian dish she remembers cooking is Pupusa’s . Other family recipes
traditional dishes
she enjoys making to this day with her parents are Iguana Soup and
Tamales.

“Cooking and writing are two things that I never see my self not doing ten
years from now. It is just those kinds of things that come to your life to
stay.”, concludes Consuelo.
