Finding a Camera

If I was going to buy a new digital camera, I would buy the Canon EOS 5D Mark

IV DSLR. The current deal that bhphotovideo’s has on their site, includes a free Canon

LP- E6N Lithium-Ion battery pack, a Canon BG- E20 battery grip, along with a black

Ruggard Journey 44 DSLR shoulder bag. According to a number of review sites, the

Canon EOS 5D Mark is nearly identical-looking to its predecessor, however it received a

number of upgrades when compared to past models. Now, this camera includes a higher

resolution sensor with Dual Pixel autofocus, 4K video capture, an upgraded AF system, a

touchscreen, improved weather sealing, built in Wi-Fi/NFC, an interval timer and GPS.

According to certain reviews, the weather sealing has been improved so there will be no

worries when it comes to unpredictable weather.

The sensors on the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR are a 30.4 MP, the Canon

EOS 5D III 22.3 MP, lastly, the Canon EOS 5DS has a sensor 50.6 MP. The full ISO

range for the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR 100 – 32000, the Canon EOS 5D III 100 –

25600, the Canon EOS 5DS 100 – 6400. The AF points for the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

DSLR is 61, the Canon EOS 5D III is 61, the Canon EOS 5DS is 61. The burst rate for

these cameras are 7 fps, 6 fps, 5 fps, respectively. The LCD on the Canon EOS 5D Mark

IV DSLR is a 3.2” 1.62M- dot touchscreen, on the Canon EOS 5D III is a 3.2" 1.04M-

dot, the Canon EOS 5DS is a 3.2" 1.04M-dot. The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR and

both the Canon EOS 5D III cost around $3499, while the previous model costs $3699.
However, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR is the has built in Wi-Fi, along with a GPS.

None of the predecessors had this technology.

Several reviewers have citied this camera as being very capable, but not hugely

different when compared to the Mark III. The best features of this camera are the low

light / high ISO shooting and silent drive which are great for available light events

(similar to weddings). Auto focus, along accuracy, works well but still has some issues

that the previous models. However, according to another reviewer, the auto focus is

similar to the older model’s version, which makes it relatively easier to mess with. Fast

moving objects are easier to capture on this camera.

Overall, this camera is a perfect one for beginners. It is an upgrade from the

previous models but not so drastically different that anyone with a previous model should

upgrade.
