Admission Criteria

The main selection criteria for EMTM applicants are:

 Completed university bachelor's or master's degree/s (=180 ECTS credit points or more) in the
field of: tourism, economics, business administration, geography or other related fields in the
social sciences or humanities.
 Excellence on obtaining the university degree/s (the average grades must be A or B, minimum
70%).
 English language proficiency proved by official TOEFL (institutional tests are not accepted) with at least 230
points (computer-based test) / 575 points (paper-based test) / 88 points (internet-based test), IELTS Academic
at grade minimum 6.5 or Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) with minimum level C.

Exemption:
You are exempt from documenting your English skills if your first degree (bachelor/undergraduate degree)
was taken in the USA, Canada (English speaking part), Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom or Ireland.
Please note that if your degree was only partly taught in one of the above countries, you are not exempted from
documenting your English skills but must do so as indicated on this page. It is not sufficient to enclose a letter
from your home university. Not even if the language of instruction at your home university is English.

Tuition fee
EU citizen's tuition fee is 3,750 euros per year (7,500 euros for the two-year EMTM programme).

Non-EU citizen's tuition fee is 7,000 euros per year (14,000 euros for the two-year EMTM programme).

Scholarships
Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) scholarships
EMJMD Partner Country scholarships are awarded to applicants selected by the EMTM Consortium who are
nationals of a Partner Country (all countries outside the 28 EU Member States, former Yugoslav Republic of
Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey) and who are not residents nor have carried out their
main activity (studies, training or work) for more than 12 non-consecutive months over the last 5 years in one of
the 28 EU Member States, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey.
The 5-year reference period for this 12-month rule is calculated backwards as from the submission deadline of
applying for an EMJMD scholarship.
EMJMD Programme Country scholarships are awarded to applicants selected by the EMTM Consortium
who are nationals of a Programme Country (all countries within the 28 EU Member States, former Yugoslav
Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey) or who are nationals of a Partner Country
and have been residents or have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than 12 non-
consecutive months over the last 5 years in one of the 28 EU Member States, former Yugoslav Republic of
Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey. The 5-year reference period for this 12-month rule is
calculated backwards as from the submission deadline of applying for an EMJMD scholarship.
Students applying for a scholarship are not allowed to submit a scholarship application to more than three
EMJMD Consortia.

Students who have already obtained an EMJMD scholarship or an Erasmus Mundus Master Course scholarship
are not eligible to apply for a second scholarship under the EMJMD programme.
Students benefiting from an EMJMD scholarship cannot benefit from another European Union grant while
pursuing their master’s studies.

The scholarship includes the students' participation costs (including tuition fees, full insurance coverage and any
other mandatory costs related to the students' participation in the course), a contribution to student travel and
installation cost and a subsistence allowance for the entire duration of the EMJMD study programme. Details on
the scholarship amounts are given in the table below:

Commission to the EMTM coordinating institution.

1,000 € per year for travel costs for scholarship holders residents of a
Programme Country.

Contribution to the travel 2,000 € per year for travel costs + 1,000 € for installation costs for
and installation costs scholarship holders residents of a Partner Country whose location is
situated at less than 4,000 km from the EMJMD coordinating HEI.

3,000 € per year for travel costs + 1,000 € for installation costs for
scholarship holders residents of a Partner Country whose location is
situated at 4,000 km or more from the EMJMD coordinating HEI.

1,000 € per month for the entire duration of the EMJMD study
programme (24 months maximum). Contribution to subsistence costs
Contribution to will not be given to the scholarship holders for the EMJMD (study
subsistence costs /research /placement / thesis preparation) periods spent in their
country of residence.

These and other provisions related to the participation in the EMTM programme are included in the student
agreement.

EMJMD scholarships available for course 2018-2020


The maximum number of EMJMD Partner Country scholarships available for course 2018-2020 will be 14
scholarships.

The maximum number of EMJMD Programme Country scholarships available for course 2018-2020 will be 2
scholarships.

Erasmus+ Master degree loans


Erasmus+ Master degree loans allow students to apply for support for their master's studies abroad. Find out

Catalunya-La Pedrera Foundation scholarship


For 2017-2019 intake, Catalunya-La Pedrera Foundation awards one scholarship of up to 10,000 € to one EMTM
student within the foundation's Masters of Excellence programme. To apply for the scholarship, candidates must
have been admitted to enrol in EMTM, hold Spanish nationality and have outstanding academic records.
Students can apply for this scholarship by sending an email to the EMTM Secretariat (emtm@emtmmaster.net)
before July 16th 2017.
