Local Refineries (KRPC, PHRC & WRPC) received a total of 42,471,739 barrels 100
(5,785,019 mt) of crude oil in 2006. With opening stock of 4,234,379 barrels (576,759
mt), the total available crude oil for processing was 46,706,118 barrels (6,361,778 80
mt). Out of this, 43,445,397 barrels (5,902,109 mt) of crude oil was processed into
various petroleum products. This volume shows a decrease of 27,191,623 barrels 60
(3,668,040 mt), or 38.49% below the quantity processed in 2005 (70,637,020 barrels). 40
KRPC and WRPC had remained largely unavailable during the year due to lack of
crude oil occasioned by the vandalism of the Escravos-Warri pipeline. 20

The Pipeline and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) (a subsidiary of NNPC) A total of 3,683 line breaks were reported, out of which 3,674 were as a result of
evacuated 6,077,042 mt of petroleum products from the refineries for distribution. This pipeline vandalism while the remaining 9 cases were due to wear and tear
figure is larger than the previous year by 3,310,959 mt (35.27%). In addition to the rupture. This gives an increase of 63.11 % over year 2005 figure of 2,258. Port
above, PPMC imported 6,489,138 mt of different grades of petroleum products (PMS Harcourt zone recorded the highest number (2,091) in cases of pipeline
and DPK) to meet the domestic demand. This is an increase of 334,386 mt (5.43%) vandalism. This was followed by Warri zone with 662, Mosimi 480 cases and 6
over year 2005 import figure of 6,154,752 mt. The increase in products importation in cases of rupture. Gombe recorded 265 cases of pipeline vandalism and 3 cases
2006 was largely due to the drop in domestic refining. The imports for the last ten (10) of rupture and Kaduna had the least with 176 cases of pipeline vandalism. The
years is shown in the charts below. table and figures below displays the situation for the period.
