It is hard to believe that May is almost over, which means that summer is just around the corner!
Summer brings lots of amazing volunteer opportunities including: the Summer Carnival on June
8th from 3-6pm, our Summer Block Parties which kick-off Thursday evenings in June and July and
our revamped Vacation Bible School (now called Summer Bible Camp).

This year’s Summer Bible Camp theme is ROAR: Life is Wild, God is Good. The children will learn
about the Israelites in Egypt and about their escape from slavery. They will be learning that no matter what
happens in our lives or what challenges or struggles are thrown at us, God is still with us and He is still good. They
will be learning that through it all God should be praised.

Not only did we revamp the name but moved it to the evenings starting on June 23-27 from 6-8pm. Yes, that is a
Sunday-Thursday this year. This change comes in hopes that more children will be able to attend and that more
adults will be able to volunteer

Speaking of volunteering, Summer Bible Camp would not be possible without your support and help. I am needing
volunteers in a variety of capacities from leading or helping in stations (crafts, games, songs, Bible story) to guiding
groups of children from station to station.

If you are more of a crafty, behind-the-scenes person, I need your talents too! Decorating the church is one way to
transport the children from a church setting to the plains of Africa and sets the tone for the entire week.

If cooking is more your speed, don’t think I forgot about you! This year we are planning on feeding all the volunteers
during the week, so if you have a favorite recipe that feeds a group, please consider signing up to help provide
meals to the volunteers.

If you are not able to volunteer, you can still help make this week of Summer Bible Camp a success by praying for
the children and volunteers during the week or even financially donating to sponsor a child to attend. We do not
charge families anything to attend Summer Bible Camp as this is an outreach to the community and a great way to
teach children about God.

During this week, Christ really does transform lives and we have the opportunity
to share Christ’s love to a large group of people! What better way to live out our
Mission and Vision statement than to volunteer for Summer Bible Camp. Please
consider partnering with me in this fantastic outreach.

For the last three years, our Church family has hosted
an amazing outreach for our East Stroudsburg
neighbors and community: our Thursday night Summer
Block Parties!
Directed by Scott Kuhnle and our awesome group of
Youth, we grilled out every single Thursday night,
brought the Word to the community, and offered a time
of worship. This summer, we’ll be doing it all over again
with the assistance of ESUMC’s Outreach & Evangelism
Team, Stephen Ministry Team, a few of our Small
Groups, and our Financial Peace University graduates—
but we still need and invite your personal support at
these import outreach nights!
Each group above has signed-up to help lead on a
designated Thursday —however—here’s still a BIG
need for extra volunteers each Thursday evening and
Team/Small Group/Group leadership is still needed on
Thursday, June 20th!!!!
Here’s a few other ways you can help support us:

your on Sunday , and leave them in the Kitchen labeled
“BLOCK PARTY.” Or, if you would like to drop supplies

Did you know that ESUMC has welcomed over 500
community guests to enjoy our FREE Carnival Event?
We did!!! Every year, each guest was given a FREE
food voucher that included a free hot dog and drink, free
popcorn, free cotton candy, free carnival style games,
free prizes, and free balloon animals. In other words, the
Carnival was an overwhelmingly successful event
thanks to the help and support of our Church Family!
This year, we'll be holding our 4th Annual Carnival on
June 8th, and once again, ALL games, prizes, and food
will be provided FREE of charge! It took MANY
volunteers to make this event possible, and this we'll
need your help to do it again this year! Please
prayerfully consider how you might be able to us
make this a successful outreach to our community.

 Church Administrator Position
ESUMC is seeking to fill the role of Church
Administrator. The qualifications include a working
knowledge of QuickBooks and database management,
along with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word,
Excel and Publisher. High School diploma. Skills to
maintain a positive working relationship with staff,
volunteers, church members and the
community. Organizational skills.
We are looking for someone with skills to interact with
and lead office staff, volunteers, church members and
the community. This person must be able to maintain
confidentiality and supervise the management of
property and the personnel who maintain it.

Facilities Manager Position
ESUMC has a job opening for Facilities Manager. This
is a part-time position with 20 hours per week. The
hours are M-F, 8am – noon with flexibility. This position
is responsible for the management of the physical
church plant, and church owned property, including
church owned vehicles.
Responsibilities: Overseeing and supervising the sex-
tons in janitorial and maintenance duties. Oversee that
the facilities and grounds are always kept in peak condi-
tion and appearance. Ensure snow removal is sched-
uled and performed in a timely manner. Maintain and
ensure all church equipment is working optimally. Trou-
bleshoot issues, and schedule service as needed main-
tain manuals, service agreements and scheduled
maintenance on all church equipment, including vehi-
cles. Review safety and accessibility issues of the
church with the Trustees as needed. Coordinate with
Trustees that all church properties are properly insured,
inspected and operating in compliance with all applica-
ble laws and regulations. Project and maintain the an-
nual budget for custodial and maintenance items. Order
janitorial and maintenance supplies. Be the first emer-
gency contact for alarm systems.

Hospitality isn’t just for greeters and ushers—it’s for all
of us. The Membership & Hospitality Team just wants to
encourage EVERY church member to greet and extend
a warm welcome to each other and to guests!!
Here are some quick tips on and conversation starters
for welcoming others. With a genuine smile and
handshake try any of the following phrases:
“Good morning! It’s great to see you here
today”!
“Hi! I’m ____________. I’m so sorry, but I can’t
seem to remember your name! What was it
again?” (People are usually grateful you admitted you
couldn’t remember their name and were brave enough
to initiate the greeting!)
If you are unsure if the person next to you is a member
or visitor, try this greeting:
“Hi, I don’t think we’ve met before….” or “I
don’t think we’ve met yet! I’m __________...”
There are so many way to welcome, acknowledge and
greet others! Be sure to try a few of these suggestions
out soon with a friendly face.
On Wednesday, June 12th, The Older Kids will visit the
Columns Museum in Milford and have lunch at Apple
Valley Restaurant.. Departure is 9:30am from
the Church parking lot with an estimated return time of
3:00 pm. Museum Admission is just $5, lunch not
included. Reservations are required for groups, so
please RSVP to Karen Dudley by Thursday, June 6th by

 ESUMC’s Infant and
Preschool Nursery is looking
for special, caring individuals
to meet the needs of a
growing ministry in our
church. We have several
positions that will soon need
to be filled in our nursery
staff. Paid nursery staff
provide child care and teach
lesson on Sundays from 8:15-12:15 and work special
events, church services, and retreats throughout the ESUMC’s
