By the end of SY2018-2019, we will raise the number of students in Astumbo Middle School
measured as “Ready” by the District Summative Test (ACT Aspire) in Mathematics by 15
percentile points. This will be accomplished by reviewing our students’ ACT Aspire scores in
math in order to plan a curriculum that will better meet their needs. Our curriculum will be
organized using proficiency scales to appropriately tier our content towards college and career
readiness. These scales will also be used to guide us in assessment construction as a means of
providing meaningful feedback in working towards content standards. As a team, we also plan
to meet monthly as a department and weekly with our counterparts to review their progress
and collaborate on how best practices can be better leveraged for success in the classroom.
Step 2 Your rationale for choosing this goal. (e.g. SMART goal, department or PLC goal, school goal,
accreditation, personal reflection, perceived area for growth, etc.)
In line with our district’s vision of “Every student: Responsible, Respectful and Ready for Life.” We
see a need to provide viable opportunities that afford our students the necessary skills for college and
career readiness. Mathematics is integral to their success. As a team we will collaborate, review data,
implement interventions and structures to leverage our assets for our students’ continued success.
Step 3 Evidence of Professional Growth/Evidence of Student Growth (e.g., tools, samples, reports,
rubrics, forms, grade reports, agenda, minutes, portfolios, etc.)
