1) Planning:
Definition of planning in nursing educational institution:
Planning in nursing educational institution is essential as it will provide the basis for the
development of the institution in both quantitative and qualitative aspects. Planning involves
setting the goals for achievement and developing the direction and process for making the goals
into a reality.
Planning also give a chance to mobilize and utilize the resource carefully and effectively.
Objective:
o To bring about unity on the working institution.
o To achieve coordination in power and efforts.
o To curtail the cost
Importance of planning:
Planning is an important function of management, therefore an organization success
depend on good planning.
Planning eliminate or reduce the chance of uncertainty.
Planning avoids overlapping of activities.
Planning helps to set standards of activities.
Planning helps in coordinating activities.
Planning gives direction to an organization.
Planning eliminate duplication of effort.
Planning improve communication and interpersonal relationships.

2) Organizing:
Introduction:
Organizing is a process which is required when many people are involved in managing an
institution. Organization means relationships between emerges in which someone takes up
responsibility of leading the activities of the organization. Organization requires people who are
able to communicate effectively, willing to contribute their service and coordinate well with
others.
Objectives:
To prepare different levels of nurses who will function at different positions.
To develop nurse who are capable of delivering high quality nursing care with holistic
approval.
To provide facilities for advanced studies and specialization in nursing.
Process:
Identification of the work/goal to be accomplished
Grouping the activity
Establishing job specifications.
Coordination of the work and working together effectively
Delegation of responsibility along with necessary authority
Maintaining good interpersonal relationship.
Accomplishment of identified objectives.
Organization structure:
1) Line structure: It shown direct and vertical relationship between the people working in
institution.
2) Staff or functional structure: The hierarchy of relationship is developed based on the
function.
3) Division structure: It is used in larger organization, when they have institution at multiple
locations and the divisional structure66 is used for each of the unit.
4) Project organizational structure: It is temporary in nature and developed for specific
projects. The structure will facilitate coordination and control within the project team.
5) Matrix structure: This is a combination of both functional and divisional structure and again
used by large organization with multiple institutions.

3) STAFFING:
Definition:
Staffing may defined as implementing planning, providing employment and developing
human resources at different grades in an institution in order to implement various complex
institution activities and fulfill the goals of management.
Objectives of staffing:
To recruit adequate number of human power resources to attain the goals of management.
To carry out the managerial functions such as planning, directing and controlling the
organization by recruiting adequate human resources.
To recruit competent staff. Effective functioning of an organization reflects the ability of
the staff recruited. Therefore, the success of the organization depends on the competency
of the staff recruited.
To retain right number of staff and utilize their ability to the maximum so that they give
quality output.
To provide training programs to strengthen the personnel skills and abilities of the staff.
To ensure adequate staffing to have proper usage of resources in an organization.

Product joint venture, cooperation of executives

Principles of budget:
Budget should provide sound financial management by focusing on the requirement of the
organization
Budget should focus objects and policies of the organization
Budget should include coordinating efforts of various departments establishing a frame of
reference for managerial decision
Budget period must be appropriate to the nature of business or service and to the type of
budget.
Budget is to be prepared under direction and supervision of the administrator or financial
officer
Budget necessitates a review of the performance of the previous year and an evaluation of
its adequacy both in quantity and quality
Function of budget in nursing:
Identifies the importance of and develops short a long range fiscal plan the reflects unit
needs.
Assess the internal and external environment of the organization in forecasting to identity
driving forces and barriers of fiscal planning.
Coordinates unit level fiscal planning to be congruent with organinization goals and
objectives
Demonstrate knowledge of budgeting and uses appropriate technique
Coordinates the monitoring aspects of budget control
Ensure that documentation of clients need for service to clear and complete for facilitating
organizational reimbursement
Budget planning:
In a government setting the financial sources available to college are less or very limited.
Out of which about 60% of the budget allocated is required to be spent on salaries and
wages and remaining 40% of the budget spent in stores, supplies and equipments.

Linen and other household supplies
Office supplies, including stationary and postage
