Amendment Description In your own words/reallife example
1 The Five Freedoms (Rights to This amendment gives true
Religion, Speech, Press, freedom to the words and beliefs of
Assembly, Petition) the people. No longer can people
be silenced or punished for being
the minority or advertising their
beliefs. This amendment truly takes
absolute power out of government
hands.
2 The Right to Bear Arms Having the right to carry a weapon
is a necessity for protection. Law
enforcement cannot get to attack
for a good amount of time, so it is
our right to have a gun to protect
ourselves. Taking guns away, as
many are pushing for, will just take
them away from those who need
protection. Those who want a gun
for illintentions purposes will still
easily be able to get one.
3 Quartering of Soldiers Although this amendment doesn’t
apply much today, it is important
because it restricts the military from
taking over the common citizen’s
home. Everyone has the right to
their own property, and soldiers
shouldn’t have the ability to take
that from us.
4 No Unreasonable Search and This amendment protects our
Seizure privacy as the government has no
right to search and take away any
of our property without consent or
probable cause. Probable cause
ONLY includes reasonable
suspicion for intent or execution of
a crime.
5 Right to Remain Silent and This amendment allows the
Due Process accused to remain silent to not
incriminate themselves without a
counsel present to advise. It gives
the right to fair processing and

punishment.
6 Right to a speedy and public I feel this is very important because
trial, impartial jury and right to it pushes for true justice served by
counsel. the people’s will, rather than
allowing the government to choose
whatever punishment. The
accused have the right to an
education law representative and
advisor to defend their case and
gives them a fair chance to prove
innocence.
7 Right to a trial by jury in This law gives people the right to
commonlaw cases. be tried fairly like others have been
tried for similar offenses in the
past. It follows a common law
factor based on previous verdicts
creating a fair sentence for all of
the similar offenses.
8 Protection against cruel and This right ensures all those
unusual punishment. No sentenced are held to a just and
excessive bail imposed. fair punishment. It also ensures
that no one’s bail is set to an unfair
amount in regards to their
accusation.
9 Protects rights not This is important because it
