What I’ve learned from using KIPS:

KIPS helps to understand what children’s needs and how to properly responds to
children in every act they do. Parents learned which behavior they should build
up, and they know what behavior they are missing. As an assessment tool for
children with delayed speech, KIPS could differentiated the main factor that
cause delayed speech in children with no organ disabilities. I did the assessment
using KIPS with many races, and different cultures, but KIPS can still objectively
assess the interaction between parent and children.

Families in my study were family with children diagnosed with delayed speech.
All of them have undergone the treatment for they children. There is a special
treatment for children with delayed speech. Children will exercise with the
therapist, in hospital, at least once a week, depends on their language
development. After the exercise section with the children, the therapist will
discussed children’s progress to the parents. They usually asked parents about
children’s language progress in their house. So the progress can improve
comprehensively.
