Typical failures: Repair solution:

1. The forces at work on the input and output shafts
can lead to premature wear of the bearing shaft
featuring deep groove ball bearings. This premature
wear is noticed during driving in the form of a
rattling sound (for failure diagnosis, see TA0009).
2. If the failure is not immediately repaired, the needle
cage in the fifth gear will be destroyed due to an
increase in heat dissipation. The development of
OE Manufacturer‘s names and numbers are used for reference purposes only
LuK GearBOX (462 0055 10) contains all the components needed to
perform a professional repair of the 02T gearbox – the main bearings,
gaskets and seals, retaining rings – plus the repair solution for typical
gearbox failures, e.g. idler gear bearing in the fifth gear.

Note:
Our experience has shown that in only about 20%
of the defective 02T gearboxes do the differential
bearings feature higher wear. Because of this,
the LuK GearBOX 02T is not supplied with these.
However, they can be purchased separately
(712 1304 10 and 712 1308 10).

A manual transmission with this typical failure

can also feature other damages. Therefore, during
maintenance all components should be checked
for possible wear (e.g. synchronization, shafts and
gears).
