UNITY: 2 TALKING ABOUT YOURSELF AND ABOUT PEOPLE.
DATE: Monday, November 12th, 2018
TOPIC: Let’s focus grammar
OBJECTIVE: To develop writing skills through the use of the grammar of the unit at a
reproductive level.
ARGUMENT
INTERROGATIVE WORDS ARE USED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE
QUESTION.

The position of the verb be is after the word interrogative

Now carefully read the explanations for each of the forms used.
In the question to inquire about age and stature in English, uses the verb be, so the
answer in English has to be always with the verb be.
The questions How old are you? and How tall are you? they have the same grammatical
pattern and translate them literally into Spanish
They would be: How old is it? and How tall is it? However, Spanish prefer as
equivalences How old is / How old are you? And what is your stature? / How much
does it measure ?, respectively.
It is important that you remember that English is always used the verb be to refer to age
and height, unlike of the Spanish that uses the verb have or measure, according to the
case.
I am 23 years old. (I am 23 years old.
Sam is 21 years old. Sam is 21 years old.
The boy is 4 feet tall. The child is 4 feet.
Similarly, with the same pattern, questions can be asked similar only by changing the
adjective.
How wide is Lake Maracaibo? It's 70 miles (113 km) wide.
How high is Pico Turquino? It's 6 470 feet (1972 m) high.
How deep is Lake Titicaca? It's between 460 and 600 feet (140 and 180 m) deep.
How long is the Amazon River? It's 3 902 miles (6 280 km) long.
To express the date and place of birth in English, a verbal phrase. Example: I / She / He
was born in Santiago in 1969. = I was born / He / She was born in Santiago in 1969.

CONCLUSIONS
In this new class, we learned about the grammar of requesting and offering information about age,
height, date, address, marital status, date of birth. The rules were learned and as each information
question is structured correctly, we acquire knowledge about the preposition that is needed to
complete the information requested.

ARGUMENT

Today, we started by correcting the examination of the first two units together with the teacher.

list of verbs; which will be important to learn to perform sentences and our daily routines.
● Drink
● Run
● Cook
● Dance
● Hear
● Clean
● Work
● Study

These were some verbs seen in classes. Later activities were carried out in the brochure, videos
were seen to strengthen the knowledge and to conclude the teacher sent us to do our own daily
routine using the list of verbs.

CONCLUSIONS

It is necessary to know our daily routines in English, since at some point it will be very useful and
this will allow us to develop better, emphasizing also that it is fundamental to know the verbs that
will be used in these cases.

DATE: 17/12/2018.
TOPIC: Let´s listen!
OBJECTIVE: to develop listening skills though videos, oral and listening activities at a
reproductive level.
ARGUMENT

The topic of today was the same as last week on routines, however, today I complement it with
videos and audios that help reinforce the pronunciation.
then through the activities of the booklet we learned how to use frequency adverbs correctly in a
sentence. It was also possible to learn how to answer questions about our daily routines. Among
the questions were:

● When do you drink coffee?

● what time do you usually get up?
among other.
The teacher asked some classmates about their routines to assess the level of knowledge about the
class.

CONCLUSIONS
Recognizing the verbs is important, but at the time of asking questions it is essential to know the
location of the adverbs of frequency since it will help us to a better understanding.
