Example 1 : Solve the equation x2 – 7x + 12 = 0

consider x2 – 7x + 12 = 0
This is in the form ax2 + bx + c = 0
the coefficients are a = 1, b = –7 & c = 12

Example 3 : Solve the equation 2k2 – 2k – 5 = 0

Let ‘m’ and ‘n’ are the roots
Product of the roots = mn

Graphical method of solving a Quadratic Equation


Let us solve the equation x2 – 4 = 0 graphically,
x2 – 4 = 0
∴ x2 = 4
let y = x2 = 4
