Picture Parade
Show pictures of different instruments that use various kind of lenses to magnify objects
(lenses, telescope, projector, magnifying glass)

3. Presentation of objective.

A. ACTIVITY

1. Use a hand lens to view the enlarge image of an ant.

Let the students describe what they see.
Ask: Is there any instrument that could view objects that cannot be seen by the naked
eye?
2. Post a picture of microscope on the board.
Students will be given jumbled letters of the parts of the microscope and they will post on
the board the appropriate part of the microscope.

B. ANALYSIS

1. What is a microscope?
2. What are the parts of compound microscope?

Let the students go to their group and perform Activity 2.5 Part of the Microscope (See
Activity Sheet)

C. ABSTRACTION

Microscope – is a tool which can help you see tiny objects and living organisms.
- Used to magnify smaller objects which are not visible in our naked eye.

Ask volunteers to actually point out the parts of the microscope in front of the class
 D. APPLICATION

Cite the importance of taking care of its parts of the microscope. Ask the question “If
one of its parts fails to function, what will happen to the microscope?
