Semester Project

This semester, students will investigate the dressmaking technique of

spiral cutting. They will learn how to create flounce and volume with this
technique by constructing a simple base garment and draping their
long spiral slab onto this base. To refine and complete their piece,
students will be taught finishing techniques, including french seams,
lining/bagging out and applying bias binding.

You will not be given workshop time to sketch any designs as A, we do

not have the time to spend on this and B, having your piece evolve
from working and reworking your cloth is an extremely enriching
learning experience from which you receive deep mental engagement.

As a tutor, my expectations of you are that:

1. You arrive on time at 9.00am sharp

2. You arrive ready to engage mentally with the workshops, this

means, you are ready to think through new content and skills

3. You hold yourself accountable to the semester timeline (on the

next page) and catch up on any missed or unfinished tasks at home,

doing this, you will get the full learning benefits of this GATE project

If you would like to review my background in design and teaching, you

can access this information at: elenabollweg.weebly.com

I look forward to working with you!
