FIRST SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL

The School Disaster Risk Reduction Management Team headed by

the SDRRMC Focal Person Mrs. Laura R. Hernandez, conducted its first
simultaneous earthquake drill for this year 2018. It was held last February 15, 2018
at 2:00 in the afternoon. All the members of the team as well as the faculty and
all the students joined the said school activity.

But prior to the above mentioned drill, selected active members of

the Seniors Scout had their classroom orientation of the things to do before,
during and after earthquake on the 14th day of February. They assured that
each grade level should be well equipped with the necessary information about
the dos and don’ts about earthquake.

The following day after the orientation, execution of what they’ve

learned was set. At exactly 2:00 in the afternoon, the alarming sound of siren
was heard all over the school vicinity which indicates that an earthquake is
happening. This caused the students to moved out of their room and follow
what they have learned in the orientation. The assigned SDRRMC teams were all
ready in performing their task.

After the students were positioned in their respective places--

considered to be the evacuation area, since those are the safest place where
students can stay, the recording team did their job of checking the attendance
of each section in every grade level to determine the present, absentees and
missing person if there is any. This was done to see and check if everybody is
present.

Next in line, was the post evaluation done by the focal person Mrs.
Laura R. Hernandez which determined the correctness of the procedure
executed. She checked whether everybody followed accordingly all the
precautionary measures the members of senior scouts disseminate during the
orientation day.

It was assessed that everything was set in place and done with all
the procedure were followed holistically.
The next part of the simultaneous earthquake drill was done after
the post evaluation.

All the students were gathered in the covered court to listen to the
discussion about Lockdown. This was headed by the members of SDRRMC
Students Watching Team namely Neil John Salvadora being the Incident
Commander, Deighter Hermosada as Communication Team Leader and
Chabelita Panao as First Aid Team Leader.

Each had their contribution on the discussion of this lockdown event

wherein students should all be aware of. They handed down valuable
information which are all essential and timely. Students should be aware that at
any moment terrorism might get along our way and everybody should be
ready. This is also part of the risk reduction management since terrorist might
bring a lot of danger and harm not only the school surrounding but moreover to
the school people including teachers and students.

After the discussion, an evaluation through an open forum was

held. Students were encouraged to ask questions about lockdown and the
speakers also asked questions to check if the students really listened to their talk.

It is indeed a very fruitful day for all of us. Students had gained a lot
of learning about how can they reduce the risk lockdown might possibly bring
them. It is a success to be called on the part of the whole SDRRMC Team…
