1 Canoe Practical

Learning Purpose/Learning Intention/Rationale


1. Students will learn the skills and technique of the following canoe strokes; Forward, Back
and J stokes.
2. Students will learn and practice the safety signals when on the water.
3. Students will use experiential learning through the use of games.

Victorian Curriculum- F-10 or VCE focus (if VCE applicable)

● Perform and refine specialised movement skills in challenging movement

● Plan, implement and critique strategies to enhance the health, safety and wellbeing of their

Success Criteria / Learning outcomes:


● Students will show the correct technique when performing the forward stroke, back stroke
and J stroke.
● Students will respond appropriately when displayed with various safety signals.

Assessment:
1. Formative – This lesson is mainly formative as it’s lesson where students are
practicing and refining their skills enabling them to continually receive
feedback from themselves, the teacher and their peers.
