P & C Proposal for Contribution

29th March 2019

Dear P & C Committee Members,

As part of our Australian Curriculum Science this term we are looking at Push and Pull forces. To
assist the students and build their own practical understanding, I wish to host a STEM event in June
that will start at 8:45 and go until 12pm.

The day will be an exciting event which will see the students dress up in camouflage as they prepare
to build boats, parachutes and push and pull toys as a team to send to flood victims. The students’
boats and parachutes will carry precious food cargo to ensure the survival of devastated areas
affected within Australia.

The event will include three experts in the field to come to the school and talk with the students
about the push and pull forces used within the armed forces (boats and parachutes) along with
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, including dug out canoes and spinning tops.

Due to having the esteemed guests come and volunteer their time, I am asking the P & C for $100 to
provide morning tea for the students, staff and guests.

The children will benefit from this real-life experience and dramatisation of helping to save lives and
extend their learning of push and pull forces through an experiential learning experience. The
experts in the field will concrete for the children what they have learnt, what they are about to learn
and give them direction for their futures.

If you could please help out and generously donate, it would be much appreciated.
