Bell Less Top® — G3 and PC Chute Transmission Gearboxes

How to be efficient and reduce

costs…
40 years of know-how and experience in Bell Less
Top charging technology have led to the develop-
ment of the G3 Chute Transmission Gearbox
providing a “worry-free” package…

… Sturdier
` Resists toughest operational conditions
` Designed for large-size blast furnaces

… Reduced maintenance costs

` Longer lifetime of chute tilting and planetary
gear
` Maintenance-free cooling elements

… Higher process flexibility

Pressurized Cooling

With conventional chute transmission gearbox The newly designed Pressurized Cooling relies on
cooling, the water is in contact with the blast fur- S-CUP technology, which isolates cooling water
nace atmosphere. Regular cleaning of the cooling from the blast furnace environment and thus
elements is required to ensure cooling efficiency. avoids contamination. The S-CUP is contactless
To compensate for this loss of cooling efficiency, and prevents water overflow into the furnace.
large volumes of nitrogen must be injected into
the gearbox. Pressurized cooling
``is maintenance free,
``maximizes cooling capacity and leads to extend-
ed equipment lifetime,
`` lowers operational costs through reduction of
water and nitrogen consumption.

Continuous Greasing System

The Continuous Greasing System greases the chute tilting gears
during chute tilting. The number of greasing points has been in-
creased and the autonomy is at least 6 months.

With a combination of pressurized cooling and continuous greasing

a longer chute tilting gear lifetime is achieved.

Striving continuously to find the
best solutions for our customers on
a value/performance basis, we have
adapted pressurized cooling and con-
tinuous greasing for implementation
2 in standard gearboxes.

Key features:
` Maintenance free cooling circuit
1
(no trough cleaning or cooling panel
pickling).
` Considerably reduced nitrogen and
make-up water consumption.
` Longer chute tilting gear lifetime.

Enter a new realm in blast furnace
performance with the Paul Wurth G3 or
the PC Chute Transmission Gearbox.
Upgrade Considerations
`` T he standard chute transmission gearbox can
be substituted by either the PC series or the
G3 gearbox
`` During reconditioning, standard gearboxes can
only be upgraded to PC series gearboxes
`` While the G3 gearbox performance is supe-
rior, the value of existing spare parts inventory
should be considered.
