3. FURNACE PURGING
The furnace purging has to be started by DCS . The burner damper and the air control damper will
open automatically and the combustion air flow will increase to more than 50 %. If the burner damper
and the control damper are open and the combustion air flow is > 50% the purging time starts running.
Is the purge sequence completed (3 x changing of boiler volume), the air control damper will move
automatically to ignition position.
After completion of the furnace purging a time of 10 minutes starts running. Within this time the first
burner has to be started.
LMYP-1
The burner will be equipped with one combustion air measurement and one air flow control damper
During the purging of the furnace the damper will be opened up to a flow amount greater equal to
50%. After finishing the purging, the air flow control damper controls ignition flow.
After starting the burner the flow control damper moves automatically to the required set point.
Is the burner in operation, the damper will control the air flow in relation to the operated fuel
automatically
For safety reason the fuel/ air controller is following a MIN/ MAX selector. If the demand for more
burner load is given, the flow of air has to increase before the flow of fuel will be increased (MIN
selector). If the demand for less burner load is given, the flow of fuel has to decrease before the flow
of air will be decreased (MAX selector). This will ensure that there is always an excess of air to keep
the right fuel/ fuel ratio.
The control and measurement system of fuel oil is single controlled for each burner by DCS. Each
burner has one separate fuel oil flow measurement and one separate fuel oil control valve.
Each burner can be controlled in a range of 1:5.
If a burner is not in operation with fuel oil, a signal “Fuel oil control valve to IGNITION POSITION”
will be given by BMS to DCS . Before starting this burner with fuel oil, the limit switch signal “Fuel
oil control valve in ignition position” is needed within the BMS.
Is the burner in operation after safety time with fuel oil, a signal “Fuel oil control valve RELEASE”
will be given by BMS to DCS . The fuel oil flow will be controlled according the required load
If the boiler shall be started with fuel oil, the fuel oil pumps have to be switched on from DCS.
The fuel oil can only start with atomising air.
5.2 Igniter
The igniter burner is given by a High Voltage igniter. This will be started automatically by the BMS for
start up the oil burner . After operating with fuel, the igniter will be switched off automatically.
For testing the igniter can also be operated by the ??local panel .??

6. TRIP CONDITIONS
If the fuels will trip, it can be started again, as long as the fire is in operation.
If the complete firing system will trip, the furnace has to be purged again.
In this case the complete firing system will trip. The boiler has to be started again as described before.
LMYP-1
7. BURNER 1
For the oil burner there is a High Voltage igniter for lighting the main flame.
The burner start program can be switched on by pressing the push button „OIL BURNER START“ ”
from DCS when the furnace is purged or fire is established. In accordance with the burner sequence
the air control damper, the igniter (if not yet burning), the oil gun and also the solenoid valves of the
oil-, atomising air valve will be energized.
If all operation conditions are fulfilled the oil shut-off valves will open and the safety time will be
started. After run down of the safety time, the main burner stay in operation (shut-off valves remain
open), if the flame detector sees the main flame. The igniter will be switched off again.
LMYP-1
In emergency cases the burner can be switched off by pressing the push button „OIL BURNER OFF“
from DCS). The fuel valves only will close immediately.
For a regular oil burner stop (with oil gun cleaning) there is a separate push button „OIL STOP
PROGRAM ON“ from DCS.
If the oil burner is in operation and the signal „OIL STOP PROGRAM ON“ from DCS will be given, first
the igniter burner will start. Only when the signal ‚ igniter ‘ is given, the oil shut-off valves will close and
the purging valve will open immediately to clean the oil gun.
All solenoids of the burner valves will be energized and de energized in accordance with the burner
sequence.
If the oil gun is cleaned, during next start with oil a longer safety time will be available (safety time plus
time for filling up the oil gun).
If the oil burner trips, the stop program will not be started automatically, a signal „OIL GUN NOT
CLEANED“ (only DCS) will be given only. By pressing the push button „OIL STOP PROGRAM ON“
from DCS) the oil gun will be cleaned, when the furnace is purged or fire is established. The same
program as described above starts running.
The function and sequences of the burner 2-4are identical with the function of chapter 7.
