ON DUTY ROUTINE

Procedure for firing incinerator:

1. Clean the furnace and the burner assembly and make sure all ash is out.
2. Drain all the water in the waste oil tank for it may cause misfire when firing the
incinerator
3. At the back of the waste oil tank check the setting of all valves make sure that the
waste oil return valve of the waste oil tank to be burn is open and the filling valve
is close.
4. Put some rugs/sludge on the furnace which will serve as a clicker for the
incineration NOTE: control the rugs/sludge to be put on the furnace. Too much
rugs/sludge may cause burning out of furnace.
5. Open outlet valve of waste oil tank to be burn.(432N or 431N)
6. Open the first 2 valves leading to the incinerator 433N and 434N and standby to
open last waste oil valve 435N(small v/v)
7. Proceed to ignition: open main diesel oil valve 427N, open diesel oil valve to
igniter 428N and diesel oil valve to burner 429N.
8. Switch on the fan and burner on the panel board.
9. Switch on the igniter.
10. Look on the site glass, if fire is already coming up on the igniter; switch on the
solenoid valve respectively. Then switch off the igniter.
11. When fire is already eminent on the furnace, temperature will rise up (refer on
temperature gauge located at the panel board) temperature must be 400-480 oC
NOTE: temperature is controlled at the flow switch, 7.8 is the normal setting but
it will depend on viscosity the waste oil to be burn.
12. Open the small valve of waste oil leading to the burner and then close the diesel
oil valves leading to the burner.
13. When the fire inside is stabilize switch on the by pass switch for the alarm
Procedure for stopping the incinerator:
1. Switch off the bypass switch for the alarm.
2. Open the diesel oil valves leading to the burner and close all valves of
waste oil leading to the incinerator.
3. Wait at least one minute for incinerator line washing.
4. Switch off the solenoid valve.
5. Switch of the flow switch (position to 0).
6. Wait for at least 30mins for cooling down of the furnace. Let the fan
and burner running NOTE: do not immediately turn off the fan and
burner because it may cause breakdown of the furnace wall.
7. Wait the furnace to cool down before turning off the fan and burner.

Conduct EGE Soot blow.

Procedure:
1. Switch the control knob of Main Air Compressor to manual then switch them on
one by one.
2. Wait for the pressure to rise up to 24kg/cm2.
3. On the Main Air Reserve Tank, open the outlet valve for soot blowing.
4. Proceed to boiler middle deck open globe valve then the butterfly valve and move
the last valve reciprocally side by side. NOTE: screw on the top of the valve will
be your guide.
5. Proceed to boiler upper part. Open globe valve then the butterfly valve and move
the last valve reciprocally side by side.
NOTE there is a pressure gauge on your starboard side when you are facing the
boiler. Refer on that gauge while doing the procedure and avoid reaching below
20kg/cm2 because it may cause Main Engine Slow Down.
DUTIES DURING DEPARTURE
1. Wait for the call of one hour notice for departure. Then go down to

engine room and drain main air reservoir.

2. Lubricate Main Engine by turning the cylinder oil lubricator forty

times for all cylinders. Engage turning gear and switch it on. Remove
the cover of turbocharger.
3. Wait for further instructions of engineers.

4. Close the drain valve of main engine air starting line. Turn off the
turning gear and disengage.
5. Close main engine scavenging drain valve.

6. Open indicator cocks for AIR BLOW

7. Wait for try engine and observe for any abnormalities.

DUTIES DURING ARRIVAL

1. Wait for the call of one hour notice for arrival. Then go down to

engine room.
2. Check around engine room for any abnormalities and leakages

especially on the main engine and diesel generator..

3. Wait for further instructions of engineers.

4. After finish Engine, oper indicator cocks for AIR BLOW.

5. Open drain valve of main air starting line. Lubricate Main Engine by
turning the cylinder oil lubricator forty times for all cylinders. Engage
turning gear and switch it on.
6. Open main engine scavenging drain valve.
7. Put cover on turbocharger.

DUTIES BEFORE ARRIVAL

1. Secure and segregate all garbage in the engine room.

2. Clean designated cleaning area.(around main engine,Incinerator
area,Fuel pump side flooring,lower floor,stairs.
3. Clean Accomodation space( Laundry Room)

EVERYDAY ROUTINE

1. Wipe and vaccum Fuel pump coamings.

2. Wipe oily parts around the Main Engine.
3. Clean flooring beneath FO. Backwash filter.
4. Fill up Sterntube checklist.

OTHER DUTIES

1. Cleaning of spare F.O., L.O. backwash filters

2. Cleaning of FO supply pump duplex filter every other day.
3. Clean funnel every three days.
4. Washing of Turbocharger air filter.
5. Cleaning of Oily Water Seperator
6. Make file for finished copy of bilge and sludge handling notes for
filing.
7. Make copy of sterntube checklist every end of the month.
Transferring of sludge
1. Make sure to close the heating of waste oil tank that will be filled 2-3
hours before transferring to allow cooling of waste oil inside the tank.
2. Sludge tank to waste oil tank
- Open sludge tank suction valve (19G) then open sludge
pump suction valve (25G) and delivery valve (43G). Open
filling valve of waste oil tank where sludge will be
transferred (46G or 47G).
3. Scavenging drain tank to waste oil tank
- Close the bypass scavenging drain valve for checking the
level.
- Open scavenging drain tank suction valve (100G) then open
sludge pump suction valve (25G) and delivery valve (43G).
Open filling valve of waste oil tank where sludge will be
transferred (46G or 47G).
4. Bilge/sludge tank to waste oil tank
- Open bilge/sludge tank suction valve (22G) then open
sludge pump suction valve (25G) and delivery valve (43G).
Open filling valve of waste oil tank where sludge will be
transferred (46G or 47G).
5. Stuffing box drain tank to M/E L.O. Settling tank
- Open stuffing box drain tank suction valve (26L) then open
L.O. transfer pump suction valve (8L) and delivery valve
(11L). Open filling valve of M/E L.O. Settling tank no.1
where lube oil will be transferred.
6. F.O. drain tank to F.O. Settling tank
- Drain F.O. drain tank
- Switch F.O. transfer pump to manual. Switch off octamar
dosing unit. Close F.O. tank suction valve. Then open F.O.
drain tank suction valve (9N). Start F.O. transfer pump and
wait until the level reaches to zero then turn it off.
- Close F.O. drain tank suction valve (9N). Open F.O. tank
suction valve. Switch on octamar dosing unit. Switch F.O.
transfer pump to automatic.

Note: If the sludge will be transferred to bilge/sludge tank just close the
filling valves of waste oil tank and open the filling valve of bilge/sludge
tank. After transferring secure all the valves that you operate and open
the heating of waste oil tank that being filled.
