FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams.
Note: The Back and Front have more rows than the Sleeve caps. Side edges of
the extra rows at top of Back and Front are sewn to top edge of Sleeve cap.
Sew in Sleeves. Sew Sleeve and side seams, leaving about 8 in. (20.5 cm) of
sides unsewn for side slits.
Lower Edging
From RS and working along opposite side of foundation chains at lower edge,
join A with sc any ch-3 sp of lower edge, 2 sc in same ch-3 sp, *work 3 sc in each
ch-3 sp of lower edge to side slit, 3 sc in corner, work sc evenly spaced along
both edges of side slit, 3 sc in corner; rep from * once more, 3 sc in each ch-3 sp
to beg; join with sl st in first sc.
Sleeve Edging
Rnd 1 (RS): From RS, join A with sc on lower edge of Sleeve at seam, work an
even number of sc evenly spaced along Sleeve edge; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as hdc, ch 1), sk next st, hdc in next st, *ch 1, sk next st,
hdc in next st; rep from * to last st, ch 1, sk last st; join with sl st in 2nd ch of beg
ch.
Fasten off.
Rep edging around 2nd Sleeve edge.
Neck Edging
Rnd 1 (RS): From RS, join E with sc at beg of left front neck, work sc evenly
spaced down left front neck edge, across front neck, up right front neck edge and
across back neck edge; join with sl st in first sc.
Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as tr), tr in each st down left front neck edge; sl st in center
of front neck edge (sk all other sts of front neck), tr in each st up right front neck
edge; leave back neck edge unworked.
Fasten off.
Tassels (make 2)
Wrap E around 4 in. (10 cm) cardboard about 60 times. Cut a 10 in. (25.5 cm)
length of yarn and thread doubled into blunt needle. Draw needle under all
strands at upper edge of cardboard. Pull tightly, knot securely near strands. Cut
yarn loops at lower edge of cardboard. Cut a 10 in. (25.5 cm) length of yarn and
wrap tightly around loops 1 1/2 in. (4 cm) below top knot. Knot, then thread ends
into needle and weave into center of Tassel. Trim Tassel ends evenly.
With 2 strands of E held together, make a chain about 15 in. (38 cm) long.
Fasten off. Tie on end of chain to top of Tassel, other end of chain to one corner
of Front neck.
Weave in yarn ends.
