This is with reference to your letter dated 06 July 2018 re: Consultation on the Proposed Guidelines
on Localizing the Freedom of Information Program in Local Government Units.

I fully support this move since it will enhance people’s access to information emanating from our
local government. Although they are already readily accessible to the general public, there are no
specific and express guidelines, especially as to reconciling this freedom of information with the
individual right to privacy.

In this regard, I will be designating our Information Officer to be our FOI focal person, who will
oversee the enactment and implementation of an FOI ordinance for our city.
