A. Reviewing a previous lesson or

presenting new lesson

Class before we formally start our lesson,

I would like to know if you can still
remember our previous discussion.
This time children we will play a game. The
title of our game is “treasure Hunt.”
A while ago, I put small strips of paper
under you chair, you are going to find out
the area of parallelogram. Kindly look for
the strips of paper under you chair.
Whoever got the strips of paper will come
here in front and answer it.

B. Establishing a purpose for the new

lesson

Class, I prepared a short video clip -(Pupils will watch the video)
for you. I want you to watch it attentively
and afterwards be ready for some
questions that I’m going to ask.

-What occasion celebrated in the video? -The occasion celebrated in the video was
fiesta.

-What are the things to be prepared -They prepared a colorful banderitas.

before fiesta?
-Why do we usually celebrate fiesta? -(Pupils’ answers vary)

C. Presenting examples/ Instances of

the new lesson

This time children, I’m going to read a

paragraph about the Lemery Town
Fiesta.
Lemery Town Fiesta

Every 15th and 16th day of August

marks a great day for every Lemereños.
Do you know why? It is because this day
is the celebration of feast of their patron
saint- Saint Roque, Patron Saint of the
dog. Before the day of fiesta, everybody is
doing different activities, there are some
who are cleaning their houses, preparing
things for the food they are going to serve
and some are putting different colorful
banderitas on the street. This banderitas
signifies the colorful activities to be done
during the fiesta day.
I have here an example of banderitas -(The teacher will show “banderitas”)
being used to decorate the streets. The
height of banderitas is 3 dm and its base
is 6 dm. What is the area of the triangular
banderitas?
1. When do we celebrate Lemery Town -We celebrate fiesta every 15th and 16th day
Fiesta? of August.

2. How do Lemereños celebrate their -Lemereños celebrate their town fiesta by

town fiesta? preparing different foods that they are going
to serve for that day and some are putting
colorful banderitas on the street.

3. What thing signifies the colorful -The banderitas signifies the colorful
activities to be done during the fiesta activities to be done during the fiesta day.
day?

Do you know children that festivities

or the feast day celebration is one of the
inherited traditions or culture that we have
learned from the Spaniards for more than
300 years or to be exact for 333 years.

4. From the paragraph, what is being - The area of a triangular banderitas.

asked?

Discussing new concept skills #1

Activity-Based
Children, kindly get your materials that
I asked you to bring. Then follow my
instructions.
- Draw a diagonal line to divide the
parallelogram into 2 equal parts. Cut
the diagonal lines using your scissors.
1. What figures were formed? - triangles
2. How many triangles were formed out -There are two triangles in each figure.
of one parallelogram?
3. What can you say about the area of - The area of parallelogram is half exactly
the parallelogram to the area of a to the area of a triangle.
triangle?
4. Since area of a parallelogram is B x H 𝟏 𝒃𝒉
- A= 𝟐 bh or A=
what will you do to the area to get the 𝟐

area of a triangle

Class, it is important to remember that the

height of a triangle is perpendicular to the
base.
(The teacher will show pictures of
triangles)
In these drawing you will see the height
inside the triangle, outside the triangle and
on the side of the triangle.
- Area of banderitas is 9 dm²
- Now that you already know how to get
the area of a triangle let us get the
area of the banderitas.
- The teacher will give more examples.

E. Discussing new concepts and

A. Collaborative Approach (Group

Activity)
Tell, Guide, Act – (TGA Activity)
Divide the class into four teams.
Posted on each corner are the
different activities to be done by the
pupils.

CORNER STRATEGY: Pupils will go

to their chosen station to do the given
activity.

TEAM 1: “THE SINGERS’

Composed a song about finding the
area of a triangle.

TEAM 2: “THE ILLUSTRATORS”

Illustrate the following figures using
the given measures.
a. base 3cm; height 4 cm (The height is
inside the triangle)
b. base 5 cm; height 6 cm (The height is
outside the triangle)
c.
base 2 m; height 4 m (The height is on
the side of the triangle)
TEAM 3 : “THE POETS”
Make a poem about finding the area of
a triangle.

TEAM 4: “THE SOLVERS”

Solve the given measures about the
area of a triangle. Show your solutions.

a.
4 dm

6 dm

b. base= 3 cm; height= 5 cm

c. b= 34 in; h= 3 in

Class, don’t forget to remember the

standards in doing your tasks. So, I’ll give
you 10 minutes you are going to create a
jingle and sing it once if you are finished.
Okay, go to your team mates and start
your work.

G. Finding practical applications of

concept and skills in daily living.
