Batik is a legacy from indonesian’s ancestor.

Batik can be found in almost every region or event

province in Indonesia. Every region even have their own batik style or in Indonesian called “motif”.
Not only because of its esthetical value, batik is also have very deep philosophical meaning which
make batik is the most valuable legacy can be inherited from Indonesian’s ancestor.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or in short UNESCO which is the
united nation legacy, science and culture division already gave batik nomination as a masterpieces of
oral and intangible heritage of humanity. This nomination from UNESCO is an evience to proof that
batik is very special as a cultural heritage.

Although batik have the nomination as the masterpieces of heritage of humanity. in the reality, the
use of batik for daily outfit is started to disappear and replaced by new kind of modern outfit.

Many of this problem occur in city civilization esspecialy in the youth community. The globalization
wich bring a new outfit style is believed for being one from few reason that produce this problem.
Many of these youth community think that wearing modern outfit is a pride and that is make the use
of batik as outfit looks old school and less prideable. So , further steps need to be done to maintain
batik culture as a traditional outfit.

Few effort had been done by the government to overcome the problem. One of the effort is the
active student of elementary, junior highschool or highschool obligatory to used batik as one of daily
outfit school. This rule is already being published in 2014 and arranged in the science and cultural
minister law number 45 year 2014.

Although this is a good step to solve batik’s fading problem. There are still a lot of contra opinion for
this government effort. One of the contra opinion said that the use of batik for one of daily outfit is
said that the effort is an unnecessary regulation.

Even though some people say if this effort is meaningless, I believe that this is what the youth
community needed to make them familiar to batik and feel proud to have batik.

Actually, the obligatory for using batik for a school uniform is not needed. But after realizing the
condition of batik condition, it seems started seen like Indonesia really need this kind of obligatory.

Many student didn’t understand the main essence of this rule at the first few time and only use batik
as a form of discipline. But after few time which in the beginning is only a habit could become love
and proud to batik

Not only make student feel proud and love to batik. This rule is also capable to make student
develop an explorational and creativism skill.

This creativism skill Is the most important thing and vital for the batik culture to stay alive and not be
replaced by the modern outfit. This creativism skill even could lead into batik reborn that makes
someone to develop batik design and make batik become goes to trend and replace the modern
outfit

From all of the things that are related to the rule that student should wear batik, it came to a
conclusion that this rule has no reason to be stopped. Moreover this rule is need to socialize more so
it can effective
