Learning Objectives:
1. The aim of this course is to provide the management students adequate knowledge of the
legal aspects of doing business in India. Knowledge of law gives managers confidence and
credibility.
2. Managers and business leaders need to be aware of the legal implications of their day-to-day
decisions in their organizations.

Expected Outcomes:
To be conversant will all the major commercial act for smooth running of organization

Course rules:
1. Attendance will be taken by me immediately after the start of the class and immediately after the mid-session
break. Students who enter after the attendance has been taken (for whatever reason) will be marked absent.

2. If a student has missed a class, he/she must submit a makeup assignment consisting of about 2000 words
summarizing whatever was covered in the class by email, prior to the start of the next class. Failure to submit
the makeup assignment on time will disqualify the student from attending the next class. Please note that taking
prior permission from the faculty or being absent due to medical reasons, institute’s work, or other reasons does
not exempt a student from submitting the makeup assignment.

3. If found guilty of plagiarism, you will lose all the marks for that component and the case will be referred to the
institute’s management for further action. Plagiarism includes (but is not limited to): (I ) copying verbatim from a
source without adequate referencing and (ii) copying an idea or a sentence construction from a source without
adequate referencing.

Turnitin

Students agree that by taking this course all required papers may be subject to submission for textual
similarity review to Turnitin.com for the detection of plagiarism. All submitted papers will be included
as source documents in the Turnitin.com reference database solely for the purpose of detecting
plagiarism of such papers. You may submit your papers in such a way that no identifying information
about you is included. Another option is that you may request, in writing, that your papers not be
submitted to Turnitin.com. However, if you choose this option you will be required to provide
documentation to substantiate that the papers are your original work and do not include any plagiarized
material.

Component Marks Allotted:

Class participation & preparedness personal journal you are expected to come to class having thoroughly read
the required reading materials & having completed the homework assignments given. Class participation &
preparedness will be tested individually through oral questions asked by me. In addition, you are required to
submit the homework assignment by email in MS-Word 2003, compatible format to,
rakesh_yadav@scmhrd.edu, rakeshssyadav@gmail.com before 9:00 p.m. on the day before the session
when it is due. Late assignments or assignments, which are not as per prescribed format, will not be evaluated
and you will lose marks for class participation. Students who are not prepared with the readings or the
homework assignment may be told to leave the class.

The assignments due for each session will be indicated after the session; however, additional assignments may
be given during the course. The timing and syllabus for each Quiz is subject to change.

Please note: The cases/essay/ experiential learning is not a summary of the readings or a report on the class
proceedings or the class notes. Do not reproduce materials from the articles or from class discussions. Instead
focus on your reflections and insights from the readings or from other sources.
Submit the journal is MS-Word 2003 format by email to rakesh_yadav@scmhrd.edu,
rakeshssyadav@gmail.com before midnight on the day before the class on which it is due, Students who
do not submit the journal in the required format on time will not be allowed to attend the class.

The cases/essay/ experiential learning will be graded on: (i) your analysis of cases; (ii) quality of
reflection/insight into the Materials covered; (iii) insights into any additional background material read; (iv)
format, syntax, readability and grammar; and (v) usefulness to you in the future.

Integrative essay

At the end of the course, you are required to write an integrative essay of about 5000 words on any topic
related to the course. Give an appropriate title to your essay.
