WHY I BELIEVE IN THE SUPERNATURAL

In the following lines, I’m going to explain why I believe that supernatural powers exist in this world and

music is the gateway to them.

When I started playing the guitar, music seemed quite technical to me and what I played didn’t seem

anywhere close to what I listened to on the cassette player. Only later I found out the true power of a

musical instrument and how greatly it needed to be mastered before it can reveal all the magic it had.

Since then, music has been nothing less than supernatural force which can take me to distant places,

manipulate time, heal wounds, give the greatest joys and yet sometimes leave me in tears. I do not know

what makes me special as a musician but I do know that music itself can make one special.

Since 11th grade, I’ve wanted to someday learn under a master and dedicate my life to learn and practice

this art of manipulating sound. So finally after 6 years I have been given an opportunity to do it and not

just from one but many masters that teach at SAM. When i attended the 5-day camp in October of 2016, I

was amazed by the environment, the facilities and the teachers there. It felt like I had finally found the

place I was looking for all these years and thus I decided to join SAM.

Deciding to make music my career, I was well aware of the hurdles which we all have to face, the most

important being able to earn enough to sustain a happy life and fulfilling your requirements of

instruments and other music gear that may be needed during the journey. If SAM decides to give me a

scholarship, it’ll help me invest that money into my future so I can learn further and dig deeper into the

secrets of music making.

Other than playing guitar and producing music, I also write blogs (many of them being unpublished) and

sketch as means of expression and an outlet for my thoughts which I shall bring along with me and my

instruments. By joining the institution, I not only wish to learn but also to share my thoughts, abilities and

ideas to my fellow mates and everyone else because I’ve always believed that learning and growing is a

collective process.

After having being taught in the art of music from SAM, I see myself being able to have a better

understanding of the technical and the emotional side of music, and having the knowledge to apply these

abilities in my own music. In not so distant future, I plan to write many songs, both instrumental and vocal,

along with writing music scores for short films and movies. But most importantly, I wish that through my

music, I can help make that one troubled soul who has been sad, angry or has lost all hope believe in

magic again.
