Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Evaluate and provide leadership for the overall ELAR & Social Studies instructional programs
Provide leadership and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated instructional program in
Math and Science
Assist in directing and managing instructional programs and operations at the campus level.
Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional delivery.
Assist in the effective and efficient operations of the curriculum and instruction department which
includes curriculum, staff development, and assessment.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in education administration or curriculum and instruction
Valid Texas mid-management or other appropriate Texas supervisor certificate
Certified Professional Development & Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Ability to implement and interpret policy, procedures, and data
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Three years experience as a classroom teacher with additional experience in instructional leadership
roles
1. Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and related curriculum
documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.
2. Work cooperatively with curriculum and instruction staff along with campus principals in developing
and supervising the instructional programs in assigned subject area.
3. Plans, improves, and oversees testing programs for the assigned subject area.
4. Coordinate the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for assigned subject
area.

5. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and
instruction program effectiveness for the assigned subject area.
6. Maintain a staff library of publications, supplementary materials, and supplies relevant to the assigned
subject area.
7. Assist in the preparation of the budget and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and
facilities in area of assignment.
Staff Development
8. Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in designated subject area.
9. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and
national levels in area assigned.
10. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate
improvement and innovation.
Other
12. Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.
13. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
14. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
15. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents
required.
