My dream job

Everybody has a certain dream, a certain goal, a certain wish of becoming something
or someone. And because we spend a lot of time at work, sometimes more than we spend with
our families, it is important to choose to do what we love. Because doing something that we
love assures us that we will do, or, at least, that we will try to do, a good job at work.
I have always wanted to become a teacher. Ever since I was a little girl I used to play
with my dolls and imagine that they were the students and I was their teacher and we were in
the classroom talking about lessons and test papers. It has always been my dream job and
even now I am working hard to achieve that.
I think that being a teacher is one of the noblest jobs. It allows you to be much more
than just the person who passes knowledge onto the students. You become their adviser, their
counselor, their friend, sometimes you have to act like a mother or a sister, sometimes like a
critic, you have to always support them and push them to attain their own goals.
Being a teacher is not always easy. You have to be a good actor in order to be a good
teacher, you have to be able to push aside all the problems that you might have and act like
you are all happy and carefree when you appear in front of your students. You cannot let them
see any of your worries because it would only distract them from their studies.
Moreover, by being a teacher, you assume the role of being a sculptor. And you are
sculpting lives and characters, you are working with people, and that is never an easy task.
You have to believe that you can change lives according to what you teach. And that means
you don’t only teach information, you teach values. You teach people how to listen to each
other, how to respect each other, how to be punctual, how to behave in certain situations. And
that is a big responsibility, but one that I am ready to assume because I know that I can be a
role model for my students and that will only make me try to become better and better as a
person.
In my opinion, a teacher must be intelligent but not only that. He has to be patient and
understanding, caring and also reliable. He or she has to be able to see the world with the eyes
of a child, while being very much of an adult at the same time. It is important to give attention
even to the students we might not like and that can turn out to be difficult at times. Also we
have to be able to get on well with the other teachers in order to collaborate with them. I

believe that I have some of the qualities that being a teacher requires and I am also determined
enough to work on whatever quality I might not possess.
In conclusion, I have chosen my dream job from an early age. And even today I still
think that it is the job that suits me the best. I want to be a teacher because I want to help
people achieve their own dreams and I am ready to invest my time and everything that I have
in becoming what I want, because teachers get the biggest reward at work, which is not
money, it’s the love of your students.
