Commentator: We would like to request everyone to observe silence. At this moment, in the
silence of our hearts, let us invoke the presence of the Holy Spirit to abide us in everything that
we will do.

Silence

Ritual to Four Directions ( Incensing)

After the incensing, the choir will intone the come, Holy Spirit. Then the congregation will sing with them.

During the humming, the Prayer to the Holy Spirit will be read, after which, the choir will continue to hum while the
seven lighted candles are being brought to the altar by the candle bearers.

After the prayer, the choir will continue singing the song. Then preparation for the mass will follow.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Commentator: Altogether. . .

Holy Spirit, open our hearts and the hearts of all people to know You, the original heart on fire.

Let your fire be our energy and passion for living the good news of Jesus in our homes,
Workplaces and society.

Give us courage to face the challenge of the Gospel to our ways of thinking, being and acting.

Unite us with the great company of saints, strengthening and sustaining our zeal for the life and
mission of our school and Church in this time and place.

Give us, for our hallowing thoughts which pass into prayer, prayers which pass into love, and
love which passes into life with you forever. Amen.

After a short silence, the commentator will start reading the Introduction.
Introduction
Health in the Lord and blessing of the Holy Spirit!

Today, we come to celebrate and pray together the Mass of the Holy Spirit with a theme:

“ EMPOWERING THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT THROUGH SERVICE AND

COMMITMENT.”

Our humanity breathes God’s breath and houses God’s Spirit. Our impulse to care, the
desire to make a difference, the call to compassion and understanding- is the Holy Spirit at work
in our
own lives and our world. God gifts each of us with that same Holy Spirit of caring, not for our own
sake, but for the sake of the world; that its pain maybe eased and its division healed. That is where
God’s Holy Spirit would take us – toward a world where, as we will soon pray, “hatred is quenched
by mercy, vengeance gives way to forgiveness and thus our nations and our Mount Caramel
College Community seek the way of peace together.”

Brothers and Sisters, it is with good reason, then, that we begin the academic year by
invoking the Holy Spirit that God has gifted each one of us with. Let us pray that MCCEI’s
education will clear our minds, warm our hearts and open our hands to do God’s work. Let us
pray that the unity we experience in this liturgy will keep us together as a community of learners
by committing ourselves to serve.

Our presider for today’s celebration is our Father President, Rev. Fr. Marlon A. Lacal,
O.Carm. at the same time the School Superintendent of the Carmelite School System in the
Philippines, with Rev. Fr. Keth Arriba, O.Carm., MCCEI Administrative Officer, with one voice
let us all stand and join the choir in singing our entrance hymn.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading:
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there
came from the sky a noise like a strong wind driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which
they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each
one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues,
as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound,
they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in
his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, “ Are not all these people
who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his native language? We are
Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and
Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travellers
from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in
our own tongues of the mighty acts of God.”

This is the word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm:

Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
1. Bless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord, my God, you are great indeed!
How manifold are your works, O Lord!
The earth is full of your creatures;

2. May the glory of the Lord endure forever;

May the Lord be glad in his works!
Pleasing to him be my theme;
I will be glad in the Lord.

3. If you take away their breath, they perish and return to their dust.
When you send forth your spirit, they are created,
And you renew the face of the earth.

Second Reading

A reading from the letter of Paul to the Corinthians

Brothers and sisters! No one can say, “ Jesus is Lord, “ except by the Holy Spirit. There are
different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the
same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. As a body is one
though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free
persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.

The word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God

Commentator: Let us all stand to honor the Holy Gospel

Gospel Reading

Celebrant: The Lord be with you.

All: And with your Spirit.

Celebrant: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John

All: Glory to You Lord

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were
locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and
stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had
said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced
when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the
Father has sent me, so I send you. “ And when he had said this, he
breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins
you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.

Celebrant: The Gospel of the Lord

All: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ!

Commentator: Please be seated for the Homily.

Homily
Commentator: Please all stand for the profession of faith.

Commentator: Let us now profess our faith, altogether.

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things
visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of
God, born of the Father before all ages, God from God, light from light, true God
from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through Him all
things were made. For us men and for our salvation, He came down from heaven
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man. For our
sake, He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried, and
rose again on the third day in accordance to the scriptures. He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge
the living and the dead and His kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy
Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who
with the Father and the Son was adored and glorified, who has spoken through the
prophets. I believe in One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one
baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward for the resurrection of the
dead and the life of the world to come. Amen
Prayers of the faithful
Celebrant: Let us lift up our common prayer to the Father so that the Holy
Spirit may guide and enlighten the minds and the hearts of those
entrusted to his work of sanctification.

For every petition, we say: “ Fill us with your Spirit, Lord”

1. That through the Spirit of fortitude and of wisdom, you give to all the baptized the courage to
proclaim that “Jesus is the Lord”, so that the message of salvation bears fruit in the hearts of all.
We pray.

2. That through the Spirit of hope and of good counsel, you strengthen Christians in a sincere quest
for unity, so that through constant prayer and trusting in the Lord alone, they may soon see the
fulfilment of their desire. We pray.

3. That through the Spirit of holiness and of zeal, you grant us the courage to commit ourselves to
serve , and through the example of the martyrs, the grace to witness to the Gospel to the utmost
bounds of the earth, so that the whole world may be set alight with the fire of your love and
consoled by the forgiveness of God which makes all things new. We pray.

4. That through the Spirit of charity and of brotherhood, you encourage those responsible for the
government of nations to search out ways of peace and of concord, so that all peoples may be able
to live in justice and in freedom. We pray.

5. That through the Spirit of unity and of grace, you unite us all in one body, through communion
in your holy mysteries, so that in giving thanks always to the Lord for the gifts we have received,
we may be able to witness to the beauty of our calling. We pray.

6. That through the Spirit of service more of our young children will devout their time in serving
the Lord in a special way committing themselves in priesthood and in religious life. We pray.

Celebrant: O God, you instructed and transformed the hearts of the Apostles
by the light of the Holy Spirit: grant that by the gift of the same
Spirit we may always be wise, renewed in life and strengthened in
His consolation. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

All: Amen.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
Celebrant: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, and the fount of all holiness. Make
holy therefore this gifts, we pray by sending down your Spirit upon
them like dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and
Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the time He was betrayed and entered willingly into His passion,
He took bread and, giving thanks, broke it and give it to His
disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY,
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

In similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and,
once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE
CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL
COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR
MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF
ME.

Celebrant: The mystery of faith.

All: We proclaim. . .

Celebrant: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and

Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice
of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in
your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and

bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Francis our
Pope, Gerardo our Bishop and all the Clergy.

Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in
the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy:
welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on
us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased
you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal
life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in
the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for ever
and ever.

All: Amen.

THE RITE OF COMMISSIONING

Commentator: Please be seated for the Rite of Commissioning.

In the name of the whole Christian Community, the head of each department will now call on their
constituents to carry on the noble task of formation of our students into becoming fully human and
living examples of faith and love. To start with, may I call Rev. Fr. Marlon A. Lacal, O.Carm.,
school President to introduce to us the Members of the Administrative Academic Council, followed
by the College Faculty ( by the Dean ),Basic Education Faculty ( by the Principal ) Institutional
Support Group (by the Administrative Officer).

Administrator

President: School Administration is a stewardship as such you are to be the guardians and not
owners of the goods and persons entrusted to you. Mother Church urges you to
become servant – leaders and ministers in the school community and as such, much
sacrifice is required of you.

As Administrators, your main task is to oversee the Christian formation of the youth
and the community towards the realization of the reign of God.

Dear Administrators, your position of service, as followers of Christ are ready to

serve the members of MCCEI Community to the best of your abilities?

President: Are you willing to dedicate yourselves with loyalty, patience and perseverance in
work and ministry you have chosen?

All: WE ARE.

President: I accept the commitment you now make and pray with all of you for the success of
the Christian education of our children. Let the light of the living Spirit keep
burning in your hearts.

Basic Education and College Faculty

( The Dean and the Principal will call their constituents )

President: A true teacher must pattern his/her life of Christ, the model Teacher. Therefore, to
teach in the way Jesus did, requires commitment and dedication; the total giving of
oneself.

In this way and through our example, our students will be brought up to see life in
terms of service: Service to God and service to people. As teachers you stand in the
place of Christ to continue His mission of love of God and neighbour. And hopefully
people will hear you, not because of what you say, but because of what you are:
living witnesses of Christ.
Dear teachers, you have expressed your willingness and desire to serve people by
being actively involved in the formation of the youth, inspired by the ideals of the
Gospel. Are you willing to fulfil the responsibilities and duties you have taken upon
yourselves as teachers?

All: WE ARE.

President: Will you, to the best of your abilities dedicate yourselves with loyalty, patience and
perseverance in the work and vocation you have chosen?

All: WE WILL.

President: Are you willing to transcend an individualistic way of life and live the life you have
chosen: the life of love and service?

All: WE ARE.

President: Let the light of the living Spirit keep burning in your hearts, Go, therefore and
imitate Christ as a model teacher of this community.

Institutional Support Group / Non-teaching Personnel

( The Administrative officer will call their names )

President: Our Institutional Support Group / Non-teaching Personnel your presence and
functions in MCCEI community is indispensable in the realization of the Vision-
Mission of the institution. Your work is a participation in the redeeming act of
Christ in the Church together with other members; you form the body of Christ in
the school community.

Are you willing to fulfil the responsibilities you have taken upon yourselves in the
respective area of work?

All: WE ARE.
President: Doing your work in joy and in love means making present the love of God in this
community. Will you, to the best of your abilities, dedicate yourselves with loyalty,
patience and perseverance in the work you have chosen?

All: WE WILL.

President: Let the light of the living Spirit keep burning in your hearts. Go therefore; share in
fulfilling the realization of God’s reign in this institution.

I BLESS YOU ALL, In the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

CONCLUDING RITE

May that fire which hovered over the disciples as tongues of

flame burn out all evil from your hearts and make them glow
with pure light. (Amen)

Celebrant: And may almighty God bless you,

The Father,
Of the Son,
