Let us review the lesson that we

discussed last meeting. The lesson we’ve discussed last meeting
is all about Standard Deviation of

3. How can you find the mean of 3. I find the mean of the given
the given grouped data? grouped data by dividing the
∑ 𝑓𝑥 to number of items or
entries!
Nice!

B. Motivation I’ll show you some symbols we

usually use in mathematics; all you
have to do is to identify the symbols
and their uses.

1. We call that as radical sign and the use

1.
of this is to find the perfect square of the
given number!

2. 2. We call that as equal sign and we use

it in equating an equation!

3.
3. We call that as minus sign and we use
it in subtracting numbers!

4. 4. We call that as plus sign and we use it

in adding numbers!

5. We call that as times sign and we use

5. it in multiplying numbers!

6. 6. We call this as sigma and we use it in

adding all the values in range of series!

Yes, we understand what you are saying,

Do I make myself clear?
Sir!

Very good!

Standard Deviation Of Ungrouped

Data
In computing the standard deviation,
the steps to follow are:
Again, we can find the mean of
1. Find the mean (x̅), ungrouped data by adding all the values
C. Presenting examples/ How will you find the mean of given, and then divide it by number of
instances of the new ungrouped data? entries!
lesson 2. Construct a table of values,
a) Arrange the items inside the
table vertically.
b) Determine the deviations d
from the mean (x - x̅),
c) Square the deviations, and
then add all the square
deviations,

3. Substitute the values in the

formula
a) Divide the sum by n, and,
b) Take the square roots of the
result obtained in step 5.
To Find the standard deviation of
ungrouped data, use the formula:

∑ 𝒅𝟐
𝒔=√
𝒏

Where s – standard deviation

∑ 𝑑2 – sum of squared deviations

n – number of items
d – deviation from the mean (x - x̅)

Example # 1 Solution:

Step 3: Substitute all the datum we get

from the table.

∑ 𝑑2

= √4.24
= 2.06
Therefore, the standard deviation of the
