Introduction

• This document provides sulfur tolerance kit installation instructions that will convert
the QSG12 CM2350 G110 to the QSG12 CM2350 G113.
• To complete installation of the sulfur tolerance kit, see Service Bulletin, Engine Fuel

Note : This guideline is intended to be universal across the engine platforms
outlined above. The illustrations in this procedure may not exactly match the
engine being serviced.

Preparatory Steps

 WARNING 
Batteries can emit explosive gases. To reduce the possibility of personal injury,
always ventilate the compartment before servicing the batteries. To reduce the
possibility of arcing, remove the negative (-) battery cable first and attach the
negative (-) battery cable last.

• Disconnect batteries. See equipment manufacturer service information.

• Drain coolant. Refer to Procedure 008-018 in Section 8
(/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures/351/351-008-018-tr.html) of the QSG12 CM2350
G110 Service Manual, Bulletin 4367323.

Remove

Coolant Thermostat Housing

• Remove coolant hoses from coolant thermostat

housing, coolant outlet connection, and coolant
bypass tube.
• Remove coolant temperature sensor electrical
connection.
• Remove capscrews securing coolant thermostat
housing to cylinder head.

• Remove capscrew securing coolant bypass tube to

lubricating oil cooler.

• Lift and remove coolant thermostat housing, coolant

bypass tube, and coolant outlet connection
assembly off of lubricating oil cooler.

• Remove capscrews securing coolant bypass tube to

coolant thermostat housing.
• Slide coolant thermostat off of coolant bypass tube.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) System

• Disconnect electrical connections for:

• DEF tank (1)
• DEF tank heater control valve (2)
• DEF heated lines (3).
• Block or remove coolant connections to:
• DEF tank

• DEF tank heater control valve

• Aftertreatment DEF dosing unit (4).
• Drain DEF tank.
• Remove:
• DEF tank
• DEF tank heater control valve
• DEF heater lines.

• Disconnect electrical connector on aftertreatment

DEF dosing unit.
• Remove aftertreatment DEF dosing unit.

Aftertreatment System

• Disconnect electrical connections for:

• Aftertreatment diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) intake
temperature sensor (1)
• Aftertreatment diesel particulate filter (DPF) intake
temperature sensor (2)
• DPF differential pressure sensor (3)
• DPF outlet temperature sensor (4)
• Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) intake
temperature sensor (5)
• SCR outlet temperature sensor (6)
• NOx outlet sensor (7)
• Aftertreatment DEF dosing valve (8)
• Remove aftertreatment DPF (9) and DOC (10)
• Remove aftertreatment decomposition tube (11)
• Remove aftertreatment SCR (12).

Engine Dataplate

• Remove engine dataplate. Refer to Procedure 001-

057 in Section 1

Install

• All cover plates must be installed with part number

side of cover plate visible.
• Use new gaskets, o-rings, and washers for all
connections.

Coolant Thermostat Housing

• Lubricate o-ring seals with water-silicon based

lubricant.
• Slide coolant thermostat housing onto coolant
bypass hose (1).
• Loosely install capscrew.
• Install clamp to bypass hose.
• Install bypass hose to coolant bypass connection
(2).
• Slide coolant bypass connection into lubricating oil
cooler.
• Install coolant thermostat housing to cylinder head.
• Tighten coolant thermostat housing to cylinder head.
• Torque: 23 N•m [204 in-lb]
• Tighten capscrews securing coolant bypass
connection to coolant thermostat housing and
lubricating oil cooler.
• Torque: 7 N•m [62 in-lb]

Aftertreatment Wiring Harness Connectors

• Some OEMs will provide connector caps for open

aftertreatment connections:
• NOx outlet sensor
• DOC intake temperature sensor
• DPF intake temperature sensor

• SCR intake temperature sensor
• SCR outlet temperature sensor
• DPF differential pressure sensor
• DEF tank
• DEF tank heater control valve
• DEF heated lines
• Aftertreatment DEF dosing unit
• Aftertreatment DEF dosing valve

Reference original equipment manufacturer (OEM) kit for

connector cap installation. If OEM has not provided
connector caps:

1. Cut wiring harness connections near a harness clip.

2. Remove 2 cm [ 0.75 in ] of individual wire insulation.
3. Install end caps, Part Number 4396237, by twisting
end while pushing on exposed wire.
4. Apply heat to cap to secure to wire insulation. Use
heat gun service tool, Part Number 3822860 or
5298996, or equivalent.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each individual wire of
removed connector. Do not use same end cap for
more than one wire termination.

Engine Dataplate

• Install new engine dataplate. Refer to Procedure

001-057 in Section 1

• Update engine ECM calibration code.

• Fill engine with coolant. Refer to Procedure 008-018 in Section 8

• Connect batteries. See equipment manufacturer service information. Operate
engine and check for leaks.
