Preposições de Lugar (B)

Nessa aula vamos aprender mais sobre preposições

de lugar, incluindo behind, in front of, between e above.

Preposições são pequenas palavras que conectam

outras palavras em sequência, apesar de às vezes elas
possuirem mais de uma palavra (e.x 'in front of').

Preposições de lugar mostram onde um objeto está

localizado em relação a outro.
e.x The chair is behind the desk.

Preposições são geralmente combinadas com outras

palavras para formar uma frase preposicional, que
consiste em uma preposição, um objeto
(normalmente um substantivo ou pronome) e um ou
mais adjetivos.

e.x. near the big round table; above the filing cabinet

Above, Below

'Above' e 'below' normalmente descrevem uma

diferença entre a posição vertical de dois objetos,
onde os objetos não se tocam.

A preposição 'above' é usada para descrever algo que

está mais alto que outro.

e.x. Her room is above the kitchen.

A preposição 'below' é usada para descrever uma

posição abaixo ou mais baixa que outra.

e.x. The bed is below the shelf.

In front of, Behind

'In front of' e 'behind' descrevem posições relativas

onde um objeto está relativamente mais perto que
outro. Os objetos podem ou não se tocar.

A preposição 'in front of' é usada para descrever algo

que está localizado em oposição, mais perto que ou
antes de outro.

e.x. The man stood in front of me.

A preposição 'behind' é usada para mostrar uma

posição mais distante, ou atrás.

e.x. The chair is behind the desk.

Beside, Next to, By

As preposições 'by', 'beside', e 'next to' são usadas

para descrever uma posição adjacente a ou ao lado
de alguma coisa. 'By' também pode significar 'near to'
ou 'at'.

e.x. The lamp is beside the bed.

Come sit beside me.

The printer is next to the copier.

The computer is next to the phone.

She is standing by the door.

The kids are playing by the pool.

Between, In the middle of

As preposições 'between' e 'in the middle of' são usadas

para descrever uma posição central ou intermediária.
br/> 'Between' descreve uma posição intermediária
relativamente a dois outros objetos.

e.x.Pisa is between Milan and Rome.

The desk is between the door and the window.

'In the middle of' descreve uma posição central

relativamente a um objeto ou área maiores.

e.x. Madrid is in the middle of Spain.

The computer is in the middle of the desk.
