HOW HAS THE ENGLISH CLASSES HELPED ME IN LEARNING MY CORE SUBJECTS?

English classes this semester has been my practice room for all those nerve wrecking presentations
in my core subjects. The one thing that I have mastered to some degree that can be appreciated is
my flawless cover-up of my nervousness. And that is because I have been able to see the importance
of body languages. I still have a long way to go but still it’s not that bad to not have it mentioned
here.

I loved all the stories that were assigned this semester. Instigating the story from the different
perspective of the characters involved were refreshing, for me personally. It not only helped me to
understand the context of the story from a deeper sense but it gave me a hint of actually looking
closely into my subjects as well. That has helped me to try to better learn my subjects by looking at it
closely to understand the various nuances of it.

The synonyms and the sentence making exercises were, what can I say, more core strengthening
than your regular reading sessions. Learning new vocabularies and how to use them in sentences
have shed a new light to framing better answers in my subjects. I have, I should confess, got more
marks than my classmates just because of framing my answers better than them. So, a big shout out
to the sentence making exercises.

I have told this maybe a dozen times in my previous assignment about the presentation classes but
I’m still going to say a word or two here about it. I have indeed learnt a lot of useful tips to create a
better presentation of my subjects in particular. And the most important thing that I had found
useful was ‘prioritize’. I have been a little behind on that because in my head everything is
important, which of course is, but the discernment of knowing when and where certain things are
important to discuss wasn’t in my conscious. Thankfully, now having gone through the presentation
classes and also listening to others have helped me greatly in wrapping my head around to the
correct meaning of ‘prioritization’.

I shall now conclude here by just stating that my English classes have held my communication and
my learning curve to an extent of appreciation from which I have truly benefitted. I don’t think it
could have been any better than this.
I have learnt many things from my English classes. Things that I didn’t know before, like how to give
presentations, how to read a story and analyze them in a different light and how to frame sentences
on my own. I have learnt a lot of new words from the stories and this has helped me to pick my
lessons better. Through reading and analyzing the stories I have been helped in my subjects by doing
it the same way as was taught and practiced in the classes.

The classes have given me a good chance in learning how to present myself both academically and
socially. I think I am a little more confident than I was before.

I learnt a lot more of my subjects through the presentation classes as the steps in giving
presentations were a lot different from what had been presented in the core classes by the same
student. So, in that way I too have learnt the value of knowing my subject thoroughly so as to give
better input in assignments and tests.
