Wolmer’s Boys’ School

Fifth Form English A

Course Outline
Unit Topic: Narrative Writing
Christmas Term 2018

RATIONALE:
This unit is geared towards allowing students to become certified by CXC in English A. It serves
to further build language arts skills using various strategies that will allow students to smoothly
transition into the CSEC English A Syllabus. This term the unit will focus on narrative writing as
well as completing the SBA process. An integrated approach will be used to further concretize
the facets of language as we seek to prepare students for the global village of which they will
become a part. In addition, a number of grammar and mechanics topics will be done to further
assist students in effectively expressing themselves through speech and writing and to allow
them to respond critically with grammatical correctness.
