Energy 

 
Dictionary Definition of Energy ​- ​the strength and vitality required for sustained physical or 
mental activity. 
 
What is Energy in the magickal definition - 
 
Not going to lie, this is the main reason why I believe and got into witchcraft. Energy in 
the works. It’s the structure and the main source of magick. It is given to all, from your bedside 
lamp to the Rocks by the sea. Us living beings exert energy everyday, piece by piece, spell by 
spell, ritual by ritual. To take the Dictionary definition of Energy and make it magickal, It 
would be ​the strength and vitality required for sustained mental, and spiritual/magickal 
Energy​. Without Energy, we wouldn’t exist. Energy is the reason we get up in the morning and 
do what we need to do for the day. We need energy to power our cars and machines. 
Magickally, We need energy to power up our intentions and magick. Wikipedia’s definition of 
Energy is that ​“In physics, energy is a property of objects which can be transferred to other 
objects or converted into different forms.” If we take that into a witchy perspective, Energy is 
the property of the magick user which can be transferred to other objects or converted into 
different forms(ie. Spells, Rituals, Charms, etc.). 
 
From 2EmpowerThyself, ​Everything has a specific type of energy or energy signature.  
 
“For example, the energy of the sun will have a different property than the energy of water. 

Exposing yourself to the energy of the sun will give you warmth while water give you a cooling 

and healing effect. Exposing yourself to certain people will make you anxious while others 

make you calm, even though you are distance away from them. This is because of the energy 

people radiate and we can feel it.” 

In order to understand and differentiate the different types of energy, we must learn 
how to be sensitive and feel it.​ We must be mindful of the environment and our feelings of it. 
You have to prioritize that gut feeling or what the cool kids say, “the vibes it gives off”. 
Intuition is key. Once you become more sensitive to the energies around, you could recognize 
the energy and know how to use it. But first, grounding may be necessary to recharge your 
energy(heyyy if you don’t know what Grounding is, check out last weeks lesson!). Your method 
of grounding is what you feel is best. Shake yourself off, take a bath, or do my root method that 
I discussed last lesson.

 Now that you are well grounded, Here’s some practices on how to feel energy, and 
would be best noted down in your Grimoire to help learn from your experiences: 
 
➢ Go outside and put your hand over a tree or a plant and feel what they’re giving 
off. How powerful is the energy? What emotions does it give you? What 
associations come to mind? 
➢ Go into a random environment and open yourself up to feel around you. Now go 
somewhere else. Did the feelings of the prior environment change? If so, how? 
➢ Walking in an argument(optional), what vibes are you getting from the 
area/room? 
➢ Note a time when you felt “off.” What happened from there? What did you do? 
➢ Take 10 items, pen and paper, and each one, place your hand over and record 
your observations on one of them. Then you repeat the next 9. 
➢ If you know anyone you can trust, ask them to put their hands forward, palm 
facing up. Take your hands and have them hover above them. What do you feel? 
Do you feel a certain element? Record your observations 
 
Don’t worry if you don’t get the hang of it quickly, it takes lots of practice. It took me months 
before my energies were honed in with the environment and I could pick up that energy and 
use it for my will. The only thing I was sensitive about was human emotions and the energy it 
takes to make you feel that way. 
 
Now that you know how to feel the energies around, It’s time to start bending them to 
your own will.​ Bending the energies is probably the harder part of this. It takes a lot to do so. 
The more you practice though, your magickal “energy stamina” bar will become increasingly 
stronger and bigger. We can help practice on that though! In order to bend them into your own 
will though, Visualization is what can help you keep your energies in your intent and control. 
This might be quite hard if you aren't the creative type, but it’s a great tool to learn in order to 
direct that energy 
 
Visualization:​ The process of directing energy over by imagining in great detail. 
 
Visualization takes a lot of practice. It’s basically making your imagination more 
detailed, and the more details means things more real. You can taste, feel, and experience it. 
But, know th​at Visualization is not physical. From Windvexer’s “Mistakes I Made with 
Visualization”, he mentions that “​Whatever you are visualizing is n ​ ot​ physical, otherwise it 
would be seeing, not visualizing. The faculty of imagination is powerful, we don’t need to 
put blinders on it and treat it like a third pair of eyes.”.  
 
 
When it comes to visualizing, you don’t just visualize a flower and just see flower. You 
have to notice every detail, the texture of the flower, what color, what petals, everything. 
You don’t look at a sun and go “bright sun”. You visualize the brightest start on earth, 
feeling its warm rays on you, the light shining blinding light. You can see the mini fire 
blasts made on the sun. 
 
Directing energy is how we create spells, charge, Shield, everything we would require 
magick for​! The more practice we have on that, the more successful our magicks going to 
be. 
Want to feel how powerful you are? Maybe practice manipulating energy? Try this popular 
method: 
 
Raise your hands in front of you, palms facing each other, 3 inch away. Feel the energy you 
have. Most observations i’ve gotten is the warm, maybe tingly feeling. If you don’t feel 
that, go a little closer. Start visualizing a ball forming, any color your desire. Just a light, 
glowing ball. Imagine it bright and lighting up your hands, feel it whirl and make a 
vibrational noise. Now spread your hands and watch the ball get bigger. With more 
practice, you should start to form it into basic shapes, then complex structures.

Charging​ - The act of filling an item up with intentful energy(or a specific type of energy.) 
 
Charging has been done in the realm of witchcraft very commonly, because you can 
charge almost anything! Necklaces, Crystals, your food, Sigils, that random table you found 
on the side of the road, etc.. You just gotta put your heart and energy into it. 
There are so many ways to charge, i’m not even kidding. Creativity galore in 
methods of charging.  
 
Some quick examples are: 
➢ Under the sun rays 
➢ On top of your charging phone 
➢ Putting it in your hands and filling it up with your energy 
➢ Screaming at it and having the sound energy fill it up 
➢ Rubbing it (FRICTION) 
➢ And so much more! 
 
How visualization ties into this is that you imagine the energy of the object getting 
brighter and stronger. A tech witch visual example(Looking at you violet) is to visualize the 
object charging like one of those battery icons on your phone! 
This is the source for making amulets and talismans, along with jar spells! It gives 
an inanimate object some energy to project! Know that sometimes you may 
unintentionally charge something, and it may be grand packed with negative energy, but 
that’s where we learn about cleansing, which is next weeks lesson!
