MEMORY VERSE GUIDE

HOW TO USE THE MEMORY VERSE GUIDE

Purpose

The purpose of the Memory Verse Guide (MVG) is to give you direction and
encouragement in the process of committing crucial biblical verses to memory.
The MVG provides you with the best memory verses on a variety of biblical
topics.

There is no more effective way to transform and renew your mind (Rom. 12:1-
2) than memorizing and meditating upon Scripture. The discipline and
repetition necessary to memorize a text will plant it deep within your
consciousness. Memorization places Scripture at your fingertips, always at your
disposal for use on unexpected occasions.

"Thy word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against Thee" (Ps.
119:11). The passages you have memorized will also assist you in times of
temptation.
How to Use It

The MVG offers three levels of topically-arranged memory verses. Each level
contains 52 passages, so that you can learn a level in one year at the rate of one
passage per week.

Level One provides you with foundational verses on ten major areas of the
Christian walk:

1. Salvation
2. Assurance of salvation
3. Spiritual life
4. Prayer
5. Bible study
6. God's will
7. Evangelism
8. Spiritual gifts
9. Spiritual warfare
10. Stewardship
Level Two centers around the themes of loving God, self, and others:

1. Loving God completely (13 passages)

2. Loving self correctly (13 passages)
3. Loving others compassionately (26 passages)
a. Husband and wife
b. Parent and child
c. Employee and employer
d. Christian and Christian
e. Christian and the world
f. Christian and creation

Level Three is structured around the ten areas of Christian doctrine. Each of
these ten doctrines is subdivided into four categories:

1. The doctrine of the Bible

a. Revelation
b. Inspiration
c. Illumination
d. Interpretation

2. The doctrine of God

a. Existence
b. Attributes
c. Sovereignty
d. Trinity

3. The doctrine of Christ

a. Deity
b. Humanity
c. Resurrection
d. Return

4. The doctrine of the Holy Spirit

d. Fall

7. The doctrine of sin

a. Definition
b. Result
c. Provision
d. Victory

8. The doctrine of salvation

a. Basis
b. Results
c. Benefits
d. Assurance

9. The doctrine of the church

a. Local church
b. Universal church
c. Edification
d. Evangelism

10. The doctrine of future things

a. Second coming
b. Judgment of believers
c. Judgment of unbelievers
d. Heaven

Suggestions

1. This is a systematic arrangement, and it is best to memorize the verses in the

order in which they appear in this guide.

2. Consider committing yourself to mastering Level One. These are the core
verses you should review and retain, even if you later learn and forget other
verses.
3. Set specific and realistic goals. At the rate of one passage per week, it will
take you a year. Some people may want to learn Level One in six months (two
passages per week). Others may take two years (one passage every two weeks).

4. Review is essential to retention, and it plays an increasingly important role

with every new verse you learn. Be sure to review what you have memorized so
that it will not gradually slip away from you. The more you have learned, the
more important a methodical program of review will become.

5. The verses in the SMG [will soon be] available in three sets of flash cards, one
set for each level. Carry a set of these cards with you and use them during the
"dead times" of the day (waiting for an appointment, waiting on line, waiting on
hold, waiting in traffic). Since the key to memorization is repetition, expose
yourself to your new verses briefly but often.
MEMORY VERSE GUIDE
Level One: The Christian Walk

1. Salvation

For all have sinned and fall

short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23

For the wages of sin is death,

but the free gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord.
Romans 6:23

For God so loved the world,

that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish, but have
eternal life.
John 3:16

But as many as received Him, to

them He gave the right to become
children of God, even to those who
believe in His name.
John 1:12

He saved us, not on the basis of

deeds which we have done in
righteousness, but according to
His mercy, by the washing of
regeneration and renewing by the
Holy Spirit.
Titus 3:5
He made Him who knew no sin to be
sin on our behalf, that we might
become the righteousness of God in
Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21

2. Assurance of Salvation

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who

hears My word, and believes Him
who sent Me, has eternal life, and
does not come into judgment, but
has passed out of death into life.
John 5:24

My sheep hear My voice, and I know

them, and they follow Me; and I
give eternal life to them, and
they shall never perish; and no
one shall snatch them out of My
hand. My Father, who has given
them to Me, is greater than all;
and no one is able to snatch them
out of the Father's hand.
John 10:27-29

I am the resurrection and the

life; he who believes in Me shall
live even if he dies, and every-
one who lives and believes in Me
shall never die.
John 11:25-26

Blessed be the God and Father of

our Lord Jesus Christ, who accor-
ding to His great mercy has caused
us to be born again to a living
hope through the resurrection of
Jesus Christ from the dead, to
obtain an inheritance which is
imperishable and undefiled and
will not fade away, reserved in
heaven for you, who are protected
by the power of God through faith
for a salvation ready to be
revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:3-5

For I am convinced that neither

death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor things pres-
ent, nor things to come, nor
powers, height, nor depth, nor`
any other created thing, shall be
able to separate us from the love
of God, which is in Christ Jesus
our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39

3. Spiritual Life

Therefore if any man is in Christ,

he is a new creature; the old
things passed away; behold, new
things have come.
2 Corinthians 5:17

He who has My commandments and

keeps them, he it is who loves Me;
and he who loves Me shall be loved
by My Father, and I will love him,
and will disclose Myself to him.
John 14:21

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the

branch cannot bear fruit of
itself, unless it abides in the
vine, so neither can you, unless
you abide in Me. I am the vine,
you are the branches; he who
abides in Me, and I in him, he
bears much fruit; for apart from
Me you can do nothing.
John 15:4-5

So then, my beloved, just as you

have always obeyed, not as in my
presence only, but now much more
in my absence, work out your
salvation with fear and trembling;
for it is God who is at work in
you, both to will and to work for
His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:12-13

Even so consider yourselves to be

dead to sin, but alive to God in
Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:11

No temptation has overtaken you

but such as is common to man; and
God is faithful, who will not
allow you to be tempted beyond
what you are able, but with the
temptation will provide the way of
escape also, that you may be able
to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13

4. Prayer

Ask, and it shall be given to you;

seek, and you shall find; knock,
and it shall be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives,
and he who seeks finds, and to him
who knocks it shall be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8
If you keep My commandments, you
will abide in My love; just as I
have kept My Father's command-
ments, and abide in His love.
John 15:10

And this is the confidence which

we have before Him, that, if we
ask anything according to His
will, He hears us.
1 John 5:14

Be anxious for nothing, but in

everything by prayer and supplica-
tion with thanksgiving let your
requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God, which sur-
passes all comprehension, shall
guard your hearts and your minds
in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

If we confess our sins, He is

faithful and righteous to forgive
us our sins and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

5. Bible Study

All Scripture is inspired by God

and profitable for teaching, for
reproof, for correction, for
training in righteousness; that
the man of God may be adequate,
equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
For the word of God is living and
active and sharper than any two-
edged sword, and piercing as far
as the division of soul and
spirit, of both joints and marrow,
and able to judge the thoughts and
intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

But his delight is in the law of

the Lord, and in His law he medi-
tates day and night.
Psalm 1:2

This book of the law shall not

depart from your mouth, but you
shall meditate on it day and
night, so that you may be care-
ful to do according to all that
is written in it; for then you
will make your way prosperous, and
then you will have success.
Joshua 1:8

But prove yourselves doers of the

word, and not merely hearers who
delude themselves.
James 1:22

6. God's Will

Trust in the Lord with all your

heart, and do not lean on your
own understanding. In all your
ways acknowledge Him, and He will
make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

I urge you therefore, brethren, by

the mercies of God, to present
your bodies a living and holy
sacrifice, acceptable to God,
which is your spiritual service of
worship. And do not be conformed
to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that
you may prove what the will of God
is, that which is good and accept-
able and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2

For we are His workmanship,

created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God prepared before-
hand, that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10

The one who says he abides in Him

ought himself to walk in the same
manner as He walked.
1 John 2:6

And we know that God causes all

things to work together for good
to those who love God, to those
who are called according to His
purpose.
Romans 8:28

7. Evangelism

All authority has been given to Me

in heaven and on earth. Go there-
fore and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, teaching
them to observe all that I com-
manded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the
age.
Matthew 28:18-20

But sanctify Christ as Lord in

your hearts, always being ready to
make a defense to everyone who
asks you to give an account for
the hope that is in you, yet with
gentleness and reverence.
1 Peter 3:15

Conduct yourselves with wisdom

toward outsiders, making the most
of the opportunity. Let your
speech always be with grace,
seasoned, as it were, with salt,
so that you may know how you
should respond to each person.
Colossians 4:5-6

He who has the Son has the life;

He who does not have the Son of
God does not have the life.
1 John 5:12

And pray on my behalf, that utter-

ance may be given to me in the
opening of my mouth, to make known
with boldness the mystery of the
gospel.
Ephesians 6:19

8. Spiritual Gifts

For just as we have many members

in one body and all the members do
not have the same function, so we,
who are many, are one body in
Christ, and individually members
of one another.
Romans 12:4-5

And the things which you have

heard from me in the presence of
many witnesses, these entrust to
faithful men, who will be able to
teach others also.
2 Timothy 2:2

And He gave some as apostles, and

some as prophets, and some as
evangelists, and some as pastors
and teachers, for the equipping of
the saints for the work of ser-
vice, to the building up of the
body of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-12

As each one has received a special

gift, employ it in serving one
another, as good stewards of the
manifold grace of God.
1 Peter 4:10

So then, while we have opportun-

ity, let us do good to all men,
and especially to those who are of
the household of the faith.
Galatians 6:10

9. Spiritual Warfare

Alert:

Be of sober spirit, be on the

alert. Your adversary, the devil,
prowls about like a roaring lion,
seeking someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8

Armor:

Therefore, take up the full armor

of God, that you may be able to
resist in the evil day, and having
done everything, to stand firm.
Stand firm therefore, having
girded your loins with truth, and
having put on the breastplate of
righteousness, and having shod
your feet with the preparation of
the gospel of peace.
Ephesians 6:13-15

In addition to all, taking up the

shield of faith with which you
will be able to extinguish all the
flaming missiles of the evil one.
And take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of the Spirit, which
is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:16-17

With all prayer and petition pray

at all times in the Spirit, and
with this in view, be on the alert
with all perseverance and petition
for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18

Resist:

Submit therefore to God. Resist

the devil and he will flee from
you.
James 4:7

10. Stewardship
But seek first His kingdom and His
righteousness; and all these
things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33

No servant can serve two masters;

for either he will hate the one,
and love the other, or else he
will hold to one, and despise the
other. You cannot serve God and
mammon.
Luke 16:13

Honor the Lord from your wealth,

and from the first of all your
produce.

Let your character be free from

the love of money, being content
with what you have; for He Himself

you, nor will I ever forsake you."

And my God shall supply all your

needs according to His riches in
glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
Level Two: Loving God, Self, and Others

1. Loving God Completely

And you shall love the Lord your

God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your
might.
Deuteronomy 6:5

Yet those who wait for the Lord

will gain new strength; they will
mount up with wings like eagles,
they will run and not get tired,
they will walk and not become
weary.
Isaiah 40:31

"You shall love the Lord your God

with all your heart, and with all
your soul, and with all your
mind." This is the great and
foremost commandment. The second
is like it, "You shall love your
neighbor as yourself." On these
two commandments depend the whole
Law and Prophets.
Matthew 22:37-40

If anyone wishes to come after Me,

let him deny himself, and take up
his cross daily, and follow Me.
Luke 9:23

Peace I leave with you; My peace I

give to you; not as the world
gives do I give to you. Let not
your heart be troubled, nor let it
be fearful.
John 14:27

There is therefore now no condem-

nation for those who are in Christ
Jesus.
Romans 8:1

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and

you will not carry out the desire
of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16

But the fruit of the Spirit is

love, joy, peace, patience, kind-
ness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control; against
such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

Do not be deceived, God is not

mocked; for whatever a man sows,
this he will also reap.
Galatians 6:7

For to me, to live is Christ, and

to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21

Now faith is the assurance of

things hoped for, the conviction
of things not seen. And without
faith it is impossible to please
Him, for he who comes to God must
believe that He is, and that He is
a rewarder of those who seek Him.
Hebrews 11:1,6
God is opposed to the proud, but
gives grace to the humble. Hum-
ble yourselves, therefore, under
the mighty hand of God, that he
may exalt you at the proper time,
casting all your anxiety upon Him,
because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:5b-7

Behold, I stand at the door and

knock; if anyone hears My voice
and opens the door, I will come
into him, and will dine with him,
and he with Me.
Revelation 3:20

2. Loving Self Correctly

In view of this, I also do my best

to maintain always a blameless
conscience both before God and
before men.
Acts 24:16

Knowing this, that our old self

was crucified with Him, that our
body of sin might be done away
with, that we should no longer be
slaves to sin.
Romans 6:6

For I joyfully concur with the law

of God in the inner man.
Romans 7:22

Or do you not know that your body

is a temple of the Holy Spirit who
is in you, whom you have from God,
and that you are not your own?
For you have been bought with a
price: therefore glorify God in
your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

For momentary, light affliction is

producing for us an eternal weight
of glory far beyond all compari-
son, while we look not at the
things which are seen, but at the
things which are not seen; for the
things which are seen are temp-
oral, but the things which are not
seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18

I have been crucified with Christ;

and it is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me; and the
life which I now live in the flesh
I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me, and delivered Him-
self up for me.
Galatians 2:20

Put on the new self, which in the

likeness of God has been created
in righteousness and holiness of
the truth.
Ephesians 4:24

For our citizenship is in heaven,

from which also we eagerly wait
for a Savior, the Lord Jesus
Christ; who will transform the
body of our humble state into con-
formity with the body of His
glory, by the exertion of the
power that He has even to subject
all things to Himself.
Philippians 3:20-21

Finally, brethren, whatever is

true, whatever is honorable, what-
ever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is of
good repute, if there any excel-
lence and if anything worthy of
praise, let your mind dwell on
these things. The things you have
learned and received and heard and
seen in me, practice these things;
and the God of peace shall be with
you.
Philippians 4:8-9

If then you have been raised up

with Christ, keep seeking the
things above, where Christ is,
seated at the right hand of God.
Set your mind on the things above,
not on the things that are on
earth. For you have died and your
life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, is
revealed, then you also will be
revealed with Him in glory.
Colossians 3:1-4

Let the word of Christ richly

dwell within you, with all
wisdom teaching and admonishing
one another with psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs, singing with
thankfulness in your hearts to
God.
Colossians 3:16
For we do not have a high priest
who cannot sympathize with our
weaknesses, but one who has been
tempted in all things as we are,
yet without sin. Let us therefore
draw near with confidence to the
throne of grace, that we may
receive mercy and may find grace
to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:15-16

Therefore, gird your minds for

action, keep sober in spirit, fix
your hope completely on the grace
to be brought to you at the reve-
lation of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 1:13

3. Loving Others Compassionately

Husband and wife

For this cause a man shall leave

his father and mother, and shall
cleave to his wife; and they shall
become one flesh.
Genesis 2:24

Husbands, love your wives, just as

Christ also loved the church and
gave Himself up for her.
Ephesians 5:25

In the same way, you wives, be

submissive to your own husbands
so that even if any of them are
disobedient to the word, they may
be won without a word by the
behavior of their wives, as they
observe your chaste and respect-
ful behavior.
1 Peter 3:1-2

You husbands likewise, live with

your wives in an understanding
way, as with a weaker vessel,
since she is a woman; and grant
her honor as a fellow heir of the
grace of life, so that your
prayers may not be hindered.
1 Peter 3:7

Parent and child

And these words, which I am com-

manding you today, shall be on
your heart; and you shall teach
them diligently to your sons and
shall talk of them when you sit in
your house and when you walk by
the way and when you lie down and
when you rise up.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Train up a child in the way he

should go, even when he is old he
will not depart from it.

children to anger; but bring them
up in the discipline and instruc-
tion of the Lord.

Employee and employer

Whether, then, you eat or drink or

whatever you do, do all to the
glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

Whatever you do, do your work

heartily, as for the Lord rather
than for men; knowing that from
the Lord you will receive the
reward of the inheritance. It is
the Lord Christ whom you serve.
Colossians 3:23-24

Masters, grant to your slaves

justice and fairness, knowing that
you too have a Master in heaven.
Colossians 4:1

Christian and Christian

A new commandment I give to you,

that you love one another, even as
I have loved you, that you also
love one another. By this all men
will know that you are My disci-
ples, if you have love for one
another.
John 13:34-35

And be kind to one another,

tenderhearted, forgiving each
other, just as God in Christ also
has forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32

And be subject to one another in

the fear of Christ.
Ephesians 5:21
Do nothing from selfishness or
empty conceit, but with humility
of mind let each of you regard one
another as more important than
himself; do not merely look out
for your own personal interests,
but also for the interests of
others.
Philippians 2:3-4

And so, as those who have been

chosen of God, holy and beloved,
put on a heart of compassion,
kindness, humility, gentleness and
patience; bearing with one
another, and forgiving each other,
whoever has a complaint against
anyone; just as the Lord forgave
you, so also should you.
Colossians 3:12-13

This you know, my beloved

brethren. But let everyone be
quick to hear, slow to speak and
slow to anger; for the anger of
man does not acheive the right-
eousness of God.
James 1:19-20

Christian and the world

Non-Christian

Let your light shine before men in

such a way that they may see your
good works and glorify your Father
who is in heaven.

Therefore, however you want people

to treat you, so treat them, for
this is the Law and the Prophets.

come to be served, but to serve,
and to give His life a ransom for
many.
Mark 10:45

First of all, then, I urge that

entreaties and prayers, petitions
and thanksgivings, be made on
behalf of all men.
1 Timothy 2:1

World system

World:
You adulteresses, do you not know
that friendship with the world is
hostility toward God? Therefore
whoever wishes to be a friend of
world makes himself an enemy of
God.
James 4:4

Flesh:
Do not love the world, nor the
things in the world. If anyone
loves the world, the love of the
Father is not in him. For all
that is in the world, the lust of
the flesh and the lust of the eyes
and the boastful pride of life, is
not from the Father, but is from
the world.
1 John 2:15-16
Devil:
You are from God, little children,
and have overcome them; because
greater is He who is in you than
he who is in the world.
1 John 4:4

Christian and creation

And God blessed them; and God said

to them, "Be fruitful and multi-
ply, and fill the earth, and sub-
due it; and rule over the fish of
the sea and over the birds of the
sky, and over every living thing
that moves on the earth."

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is

Thy name in all the earth, who
hast displayed Thy splendor above
the heavens!
Psalm 8:1

The heavens are telling of the

glory of God; and their expanse is
declaring the work of His hands.
Psalm 19:1
Level Three: Christian Doctrine

Some of the best verses for Christian doctrine have already appeared in Levels
One and Level Two. In these cases, alternative verses have been selected for
Level Three.

1. The Doctrine of the Bible

Revelation

God, after He spoke long ago to

the fathers in the prophets in
many portions and in many ways, in
these last days has spoken to us
in His Son, whom He appointed heir
of all things, through whom also
He made the world.
Hebrews 1:1-2

Inspiration

For no prophecy was ever made by

the act of human will, but men
moved by the Holy Spirit spoke
from God.
2 Peter 1:21

Illumination

Now we have received, not the

spirit of the world, but the

from heaven against all ungodli-
ness and unrighteousness of men,
who suppress the truth in unright-
eousness, because that which is
known about God is evident within
them; for God made it evident to
them. For since the creation of
the world His invisible attri-
butes, His eternal power and
divine nature, have been clearly
seen, being understood through
what has been made, so that they
are without excuse.

enduring forever; the judgments of
the Lord are true; they are right-
eous altogether.
Psalm 19:9

Holiness

But the Lord of hosts will be

exalted in judgment, and the holy
God will show Himself holy in
righteousness.
Isaiah 5:16

Immutability

Every good thing bestowed and

perfect gift is from above, coming
down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation,
or shifting shadow.
James 1:17

Truthfulness

I am the way, and the truth, and

the life; no one comes to the
Father, but through Me.
John 14:6

Sovereignty

For I know that the Lord is great,

and that our Lord is above all
gods. Whatever the Lord pleases,
He does, in heaven and in earth,
in the seas and in all deeps.
Psalm 135:5-6

Trinity

Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our

God, the Lord is one!
Deuteronomy 6:4

May the grace of the Lord Jesus

Christ, and the love of God, and
the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
2 Corinthians 13:14

3. The Doctrine of Christ

Deity

In the beginning was the Word, and

the Word was with God, and the
Word was God.
John 1:1

Humanity

And the Word became flesh, and

dwelt among us, and we beheld His
glory, glory as of the only be-
gotten from the Father, full of
grace and truth.
John 1:14

Resurrection

[He] was declared the Son of God

with power by the resurrection
from the dead, according to the
spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ
our Lord.
Romans 1:4

Return

Looking for the blessed hope and

the appearing of the glory of our
great God and Savior, Jesus
Christ.
Titus 2:13

4. The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit

Deity

Where can I go from Thy Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Thy
presence?
Psalm 139:7

Work in salvation

Conviction

And He, when He comes, will con-

vict the world concerning sin, and
righteousness, and judgment; con-
cerning sin, because they do not
believe in Me; and concerning
righteousness, because I go to the
Father, and you no longer behold
Me; and concerning judgment,
because the ruler of this world
has been judged.
John 16:8-11

Regeneration

That which is born of the flesh is

flesh, and that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit. Do not mar-
vel that I said to you, "You must
be born again."
John 3:6-7

Indwelling

However, you are not in the flesh

but in the Spirit, if indeed the
Spirit of God dwells in you. But
if anyone does not have the Spirit
of Christ, he does not belong to
Him.
Romans 8:9

Baptism

For by one Spirit we were all

baptized into one body, whether
Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or
free, and we were all made to
drink of one Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:13

Sealing

In Him, you also, after listening

to the message of truth, the gos-
pel of your salvation--having also
believed, you were sealed in Him
with the Holy Spirit of promise,
who is given as a pledge of our
inheritance, with a view to the
redemption of God's own possess-
ion, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14

Filling

And do not get drunk with wine,

for that is dissipation, but be
filled with the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18

Spiritual gifts
Now there are varieties of gifts,
but the same Spirit. But one and
the same Spirit works all these
things, distributing to each one
individually just as He wills.
1 Corinthians 12:4,11

5. The Doctrine of Angels

Angels

Are they not all ministering

spirits, sent out to render ser-
vice for the sake of those who
will inherit salvation?
Hebrews 1:14

Demons

And angels who did not keep their

own domain, but abandoned their
proper abode, He has kept in eter-
nal bonds under darkness for the
judgment of the great day.
Jude 6

Satan

You are of your father the devil,

and you want to do the desires of
your father. He was a murderer
from the beginning, and does not
stand in the truth, because there
is no truth in him. Whenever he
speaks a lie, he speaks from his
own nature; for he is a liar, and
the father of lies.
John 8:44

Believers' defense

For though we walk in the flesh,

we do not war according to the
flesh, for the weapons of our
warfare are not of the flesh, but
divinely powerful for the destruc-
tion of fortresses. We are des-
troying speculations and every
lofty thing raised up against the
knowledge of God, and we are
taking every thought captive to
the obedience of Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5

6. The Doctrine of Man

Origin

And God created man in His own

image, in the image of God He
created him; male and female He
created them.
Genesis 1:27

Purpose

Also we have obtained an inheri-

tance, having been predestined
according to His purpose who works
all things after the counsel of
His will, to the end that we who
were the first to hope in Christ
should be to the praise of His
glory.
Ephesians 1:11-12

Nature

Now may the God of peace Himself

sanctify you entirely; and may
your spirit and soul and body be
preserved complete, without blame
at the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
Fall

Therefore, just as through one man

sin entered into the world, and
death through sin, and so death
spread to all men, because all
sinned.
Romans 5:12

7. The Doctrine of Sin

Definition

Everyone who practices sin also

practices lawlessness; and sin is
lawlessness.
1 John 3:4

Result

And you were dead in your tres-

passes and sins, in which you
formerly walked according to the
course of this world, according to
the prince of the power of the
air, of the spirit that is now
working in the sons of disobe-
dience. Among them we too all
formerly lived in the lusts of our
flesh, indulging the desires of
the flesh and of the mind, and
were by nature children of wrath,
even as the rest.
Ephesians 2:1-3

Provision

For Christ also died for sins once

for all, the just for the unjust,
in order that He might bring us to
God, having been put to death in
the flesh, but made alive in the
Spirit.
1 Peter 3:18

Victory

Therefore do not let sin reign in

your mortal body that you should
obey its lusts, and do not go on
presenting the members of your
body to sin as instruments of un-
righteousness; but present your-
selves to God as those alive from
the dead, and your members as
instruments of righteousness to
God.
Romans 6:12-13

8. The Doctrine of Salvation

Basis

For by grace you have been saved

through faith; and that not of
yourselves, it is the gift of God;
not as a result of works, that no
one should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

Results

Therefore having been justified by

faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:1

Benefits

The thief comes only to steal, and

kill, and destroy; I came that
they might have life, and might
have it abundantly.
John 10:10

Assurance
These things I have written to you
who believe in the name of the Son
of God, in order that you may know
that you have eternal life.
1 John 5:13

9. The Doctrine of the Church

Local church

Be on guard for yourselves and for

all the flock, among which the
Holy Spirit has made you over-
seers, to shepherd the church of
God which He purchased with His
own blood.
Acts 20:28

Universal church

He is also the head of the body,

the church; and He is the begin-
ning, the firstborn from the dead;
so that He Himself might come to
have first place in everything.
Colossians 1:18

Edification

And we proclaim Him, admonishing

every man and teaching every man
with all wisdom, that we may pre-
sent every man complete in Christ.
Colossians 1:28

Evangelism

Go into all the world and preach

gospel to all creation.
Mark 16:15

10. The Doctrine of Future Things

Second coming

For the Son of Man is going to

come in the glory of His Father
with His angels; and then will
recompense every man according to
his deeds.
Matthew 16:27

Judgment of believers

For we must all appear before the

judgment seat of Christ, that
each may be recompensed for his
deeds in the body, according to
what he has done, whether good or
2 Corinthians 5:10

Judgment of unbelievers

And if anyone's name was not found

written in the book of life, he
was thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:15

Heaven

In My Father's house are many

dwelling places; if it were not
so, I would have told you; for I
go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again, and
receive you to Myself; that where
I am, there you may be also.
