EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the
world” (Patterson, 2013). Teachers are responsible for educating the future. As a teacher, I must ensure
that my students are receiving a good and fair education by providing them with the opportunities to grow
and develop both inside and outside of the classroom.
I believe that all students learn in different ways whether it is visually, verbally, or kinesthetically.
One theorist that inspires my thinking is Howard Gardner and his theory of “multiple intelligences.”
Gardner argues that it is important for teachers to focus on multiple intelligences especially when not all
students learn the same way (Armstrong, 2018). In my classroom, I will cater to any learning style my
students may have so I am providing a good and fair education.

Educational Beliefs

1. All students can learn.

This is a crucial element of my educational beliefs because I feel that all students can learn
despite economic backgrounds, social classes, and race.

2. Students learn best when there is a positive relationship between student and teacher.
I have included this in my educational beliefs because a good relationship between students and
the teacher can help foster a safe learning environment. I want students to feel like they can make
mistakes in my classroom without repercussions.
3. Each student learns in his or her own way.
I chose this statement in my education beliefs because every student is unique and learns
differently. We as educators must know how to teach to all kinds of learners by offering
differentiated learning.
4. Students should be permitted to think freely in the classroom.
This is critical to my educational beliefs because not all students have the same viewpoint and
life experiences. As an educator, we should help expose students to a wide array of subjects so that
they can formulate their own opinion and views.
5. Students deserve maximum effort from their teacher.

I chose to include this statement because students deserve a teacher who is supportive,

demanding, and intentional. This means that students deserve a teacher who has high expectations

for all students, builds a classroom community, and has organized lesson plans.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

The goals that I have for my classroom is to become a community of learners, that students feel

comfortable to ask for help, and students can respect their peer’s perspectives. These goals will help

create a safe learning environment for my students, which will then ensure every student is receiving a

good and fair education. In order to achieve these goals, I must provide classroom rules for my students.

My classroom rules include the “Four P’s”:

1. Prompt: Be on time

This rule is critical for my students to follow because this will help prepare students for the workforce

in the future.

2. Prepared: Bring all materials that you will need for class

It is imperative for students to have all the necessary materials for class. This rule will help prepare to

be successful in their careers upon graduation.

3. Productive: Stay on task

I have included this rule because it is important for students to know that they are expected to be

productive and stay on task in my class. This rule helps to lay out the expectation for my students.

4. Polite: Respect your peers, teacher, and yourself

It is important to establish a safe learning environment for your students. If students are not being

polite and respectful, then a safe learning environment cannot be established.
