Dear CIF Friends,

2018 has been a very busy year for both the Cancer Institute Foundation (CIF) and the Cancer
Institute, Adyar. CIF has put on a series of successful community events and these events al-
low us to continue to support the work of the Cancer Institute under the renowned leadership
of Dr. Shanta. Some of these events were Vellottam; a Tamil play, the 10th annual Kitchen Khi-
ladi cooking competition, the annual Saaral music gala hosted by popular Indian actress Trisha
and Geethanjali; a classical music event presented by our Boston chapter.

CIF is ecstatic to be supporting the continued expansion of the Cancer Institute, Adyar. This
year the Institute opened a clinic for walk-in chemo infusions and a new operation theatre
funded by donations to CIF. Many dignitaries including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at-
tended the opening.

Just as exciting is the opening of the first of three outreach satellite centers located in Puduk-
kottai. One of our Institute’s vision is to reach people in rural Indian communities to educate
them about cancer prevention and provide cancer diagnosis. This Pudukkottai center is one of
three such centers planned by CIF. With your support and generous donations, CIF hopes to
fully fund the next outreach center in Thiruvannamalai in the near future. We will be helping
the Cancer Institute to offer state of the art treatment to even more underprivileged patients in
India.

The urgency to fund these three outreach centers “on-time” opening is foremost. Like our
Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai, these new centers will provide life changing, high quality
care and diagnosis to anyone in need, irrespective of their ability to pay. They will be estab-
lished in neighborhoods that do not currently have access to these world class services making
this effort that much more critical. To that effect, we had also funded a mobile cancer diagnosis
unit in the past to reach patients in remote villages.

Your donations have been vital and have facilitated many sick people the ability to access an
incredible standard of care they never otherwise would have had. Your contributions ARE
much appreciated!
Best wishes for all of you from all of us,

Best Regards
The CIF Volunteers
“Free Cancer Treatment for the Underprivileged”
