Part 4- Inquiry question
 After choosing a career/pathway you would like to focus on, it is time to think deeper about what the
career would be like. You will research what a day in the life of the job might be and then create 3 open
ended questions that relate to the career and you are interested in finding the answers to. In the next
course, CLC, you will pick one of these questions to base your final graduation capstone project on.

For example:
o if you are interested in health care, you may want to explore the topic of nutrition.
o if you are interested in software development, you may want to explore the question of user experience.
o If you are interested in psychology, you may want to explore mental health in the workplace.

Part 5- Interactive activity

Create an interactive piece to go with your project for visitors who come to your booth. The activity should
connect to your topic and give people a chance to know more about your career/post-secondary pathway. It
could be a youtube video, a game, a quiz, or something hands on. We will discuss further in class.

Editing:
Have someone other than your teacher (advisor, counsellor, mentor, etc) look at your project before Dec 4th
and give you feedback on it.

DEVELOPING AN INQUIRY QUESTION CLE 10

Inquiry is about need to know the answer to a question, or researching a question where the answer has
consequences (a possible career choice, or area of post-secondary study – or could influence the pathway of your
life)

1. Identify your area of passion/interest:

_________________________________________________

2. List the things that you are most interested in, within this field:

1)

2)

3)

4)

5)

3. Name the things you are most curious about – you do not have the answers for
these “wonderings”

1)

2)

3)

4. Now let’s try to establish three excellent INQUIRY questions based the following ideas:
 This is something that you are interested in and have wondered about.
 The question is open to research – you will have to investigate the answer through research
 You really don’t know the answer – you are looking to gain new knowledge, rather than confirm
something you are already sure about.
 It is a good thing if the question can be answered through multiple answers – not a simple yes/no, -
questions should examine the “why” rather than the “what”, why tends to lead to explanations
 The question is clearly focused and reasonable
 Make sure you can define all the terms in your question: what does “latest” in this type of technology
mean, or “most recent” mean
 Your question will lead to even more questions: it will trigger new questions and more curiosities.
 Having the right answer matters to you!
