Herman Talmadge III

Henry Daily Herald

A reception for Talmadge, hosted by former U.S. Congressman Mac Collins, was held last August in McDonough.

Talmadge is the great-grandson of the late Eugene Talmadge, four-time Georgia governor, and the
grandson of the late U.S. Sen. Herman Eugene Talmadge, Sr. Talmadge, III is one of several candidates who qualified
for the District II seat. He ran unsuccessfully for Henry County Commission chairman in 2008.

Talmadge, 42, of Hampton, is a business owner, specializing in real estate and asset management. He is a graduate of
the University of Georgia, with a degree in finance.

Talmadge shared his thoughts before the meeting on topics concerning Henry County. "Transportation surely [is] an
issue in the county," he said. "Going forward, we're going to do everything we can to apply tax dollars collected from the
folks in the county towards infrastructure and transportation."

He emphasized the need to strike a balance between generating enough tax revenue, and levying excessive taxes on
homeowners. "[Residents] are already heavily taxed, though, and we've had a large decrease in the value of the tax
digest. The commissioners have cut the budget some, and they've elected to raise taxes. I understand that we have to
do that, [because] we can't afford a 40 percent cut in services."

As property values eventually increase again county-wide, Talmadge said, he wants to see a corresponding reduction in
millage rates. He also favors securing funds for transportation from sources outside the county, to spare local residents'
wallets. "I would like for us to do as good a job as possible of going after transportation funds from the state and federal
governments, wherever possible," said Talmadge. "Henry County residents pay their fair share of taxes, and I don't
believe it's right to ask for more money in these times.

"Over the past few years, I've felt the pain of this economic recession firsthand. As an asset manager, I saw my friends'
investments decline, through no fault of their own," said Talmadge. "I know all too well what has happened to home
values."

Big government is not the solution to financial distress, he said. "In these hard times, I've witnessed the problems that
too much government can create," continued Talmadge. "The answer to these problems isn't more government ... We
get out of this mess by getting government off our backs, and out of our pockets."

Talmadge said he wants to create a better local economy. To do that, he advocated a "common sense" government
leading to private-sector job creation, lower taxes, and quality management of taxpayer-funded economic development,
education, and transportation projects.

Collins said he hosted the reception for Talmadge because of the family ties between the Collins and Talmadge families,
and because of Talmadge's character.

"Herman and I go back several years," said the former congressman. "His granddaddy and I go back a number of years.
I know Herman, I know he can do a good job, he's a good businessman, and he's a hard worker. I think he has his heart
in this."

GOP congressman: Sarah Palin cost Republicans the Senate

Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-AL) is laying the blame for the GOP's failure to take back the Senate entirely at the feet of
Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement.

From The Upshot

'The Senate would be Republican today except for states [in which Palin endorsed candidates] like Christine O'Donnell in
Delaware,' Bachus told the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce. 'Sarah Palin cost us control of the Senate.'
According to Bachus, that means Republicans aren't really in charge in Washington. 'You can wipe that thought from
your mind,' he said. 'Democrats are in control of the presidency and the Senate. It would take 67 votes to override any
veto.'"

Of course, this ignores the reality that Republicans probably would've done far worse without Palin and the Tea Partiers
overall. And the fact that Democrats only maintained control of the Senate because most of the seats that happened to
be up for grabs were in ultra-liberal states

But Bachus is still absolutely right. Because we chose to actually stand for something this time, rather than continuing to
teach Republicans that they can stab us in the back and vote against our principles at every turn with total impunity, we
made slightly slower electoral progress.

BoE Planning Session

Well first of all it was far from a retreat. It was the board's annual planning session all day Friday and till noon Saturday.
The new superintendent Ethan Hildreth took over and he concentrated a lot on redefining the board's mission statement
and vision for henry county schools.

Many of the topics that I campaigned on were covered such as teacher furlough days, reevaluating the NTZ's, and I had
a discussion with Dr. Hildreth about opening the career academy to all students.

SPLOST IV was talked about, which could be introduced in 2011 or 2012. Communication was discussed a lot on
Saturday; we are looking at better ways to communicate between the board and parents/teachers. Curriculum and
teachers performance were also discussed.

I did make good contacts with all the board members and also the department heads. It was very informative and it was
really something good for me to get my feet wet since it deals with the planning for next year. It gave me a great
opportunity to start brainstorming ideas on important topics that are coming up.

I was very proactive in the discussions and felt very comfortable with the other board members. Also what I got from the
board is that they have great ideas, but they don't always get carried out and put into action, which is what I hope to
help with.

It looks like Brian Preston is going to be the chairman of the board and I got nominated for the boards legislative liaison,
which I am excited about because that is right up my alley.

"Americans let elected officials govern. Every so often, elected officials get confused about what this means and start to
believe that indeed they have the power. So, Americans remind them about who has the real power in this country.
Sometimes, the reminders are subtle, gentle reminders. Sometimes, they are not. On November 2, 2010, the reminder
was in the 'not so subtle' category.

Most recognize, including Republicans, that the November 2, 2010 election did not have much to do with Republicans at
all. The Pledge To America was not the primary motivating factor moving voters to show up in big numbers to vote out
incumbents. None of the Republican leaders (in either the House of Representatives or the Senate) were powerfully
charismatic leaders using powers of persuasion to play on the emotions of voters to win an election in spite of the issues.

Instead, the November 2, 2010 election was a full-fledged rejection of arrogant power that forgets that the true and only
source of power under the Constitution of the United States is 'We the People.' As simple as it is, politicians need a
pretty constant reminder.

Arrogant power is not unique to either Democrats or Republicans. In 1994, voters rejected President Bill Clinton and the
first two years of his Presidency along with over forty years of Democratic Congressional rule. In 2006, voters rejected
President Bush and the Republican Congress after they spent well beyond anything that Americans were willing to
accept. And, in 2010, voters rejected President Obama and the Democratic Congress after they proved that they really
did not care what Americans thought and moved forward with their own agenda. . .

Job one for the Republicans is to focus on jobs. Yes, addressing Obamacare is important. Extending the tax cuts is
important. But everything has to be viewed through the prism of jobs. For any politician who thinks this is about them,
or something else, voters can and will set them straight - like they just did."

Was it an oversight that the late (and great) Senator Herman Talmadge was not
mentioned in the article describing young Herman's political heritage? Or is a
way NOT to bring up memories of the Senator's dismissal from the Senate?
Just wondering.

Herman is, in my opinion, the man of the hour. He deserves this commission
seat and I really believe he'll do a super job for us.

By the way, the Senator was a dear, dear friend to me and Bear Creek Church.
We sang at his home (just a mile or so north of us) and over the years I had
many special visits with him, particularly as his health began to fail.

Keep up the good work, Larry! God bless you, your family and the work you're
doing to make our county and the country what they should be.

My faith in internet stories has been restored

Finally, some honesty in big buck hunting stories...

Here's a picture of the new world record

whitetail. It was shot by the cousin of a co-worker's sister's, uncle's, best
friend's, son-in-law's, niece's hairdresser's, neighbor's ex-boyfriend's oldest
nephew.

Reportedly it will score 2603-1/8 by Boone & Crocket standard and was shot in
West Texas on a really windy day, 85 degrees downhill, around a curve at 900
yards with a .22 rifle with iron sights.

Supposedly, this deer had killed a Brahma bull, six Jehovah's Witnesses, and
destroyed two Land Rovers in the last two weeks alone. It was reportedly
winning a fight with Bigfoot when it was shot. It had also been confirmed that
the buck had been seen drinking discharge water from a nuclear power plant.

This has been checked on Snopes who confirmed it. Honest!!!

Sincerely,

Barack Obama

The District Two Commission Run-off

By TheDoctor

There is a run-off for the district two BoC seat to be held November 30th. The two people running for the seat are Fred
Auletta and Herman Talmadge III. We want this run-off to be clean between these two gentlemen. Let's take care of
some business right now so it will be out of the way. There was some dirty baggage found on Mr. Auletta when he ran
for the Chairman's seat two years ago. There is some baggage with Mr. Talmadge also, but in neither case does it affect
their ability to run the seat of commissioner of district two.
Mr. Auletta has a strong business mind and has done well for himself. He has served our country in the armed forces
and you can tell when speaking with him that he cares for where he lives.

Mr. Talmadge is a also a strong business minded gentleman with excellent conservative Republican mannerisms. His
family has been known in Georgia since his great grandfather served 4 times as governor. His grandfather served
Georgia in the United States Senate for a long time. Herman is definitely a conservative on social issues and supports
economic freedom as it should be. Herman is a very knowledgeable and socialable man who is proud of his heritage and
his home.

Thus, Herman Talmadge III will get my support for the district 2 seat. I like Fred Auletta, but Herman leans more to the
type of answers that I have been seeking to questions that need asking. I feel that Mr. Talmadge is the right man for
the job at this time.

Californication: It is time to shrug.

Let me put into words what so many of those with rational minds are thinking and saying, but
only as a whisper so far.

It is time to abandon California. Leave it. Let the socialist hordes have the state.

To those parasites who believe that entitlements, high taxes, strangling labor laws, environmental regulations, unending
illegal immigration and tax-the-rich schemes will somehow lead them into the promised land of prosperity, give them
California. They have voted to take it anyway.

The once-golden state has been so tarnished by progressivism that it is time to show them what their 'progress' really
means.

If you believe in all that is right, earning wealth honestly, by the fruits of your own labor, it is time for you to leave. If
you do not believe in theft, in the idiotic ideology of being a sacrificial lamb to the wolves of Statist unions, leave-the
sooner the better.

The wiser ones have already left. Soon you will not be left with a choice anyway. Go now.

Give them the beaches and Beverly Hills, the high desert and Hollywood. Let them see how long they can survive on
their socialist screed.

Sell your property, move what wealth your have left out of California and leave the rest to the looters and the leeches.

Do not work harder to fund your own demise, they will only spend it, claiming they own you and the fruits of your labor
anyway.

Do not send your children to their schools, they will only be taught poison.

They want to end capitalism? Then let them experience what socialism really tastes like (but get out of the way first).

Let them wallow in the $500 billion in pension debt that they alone decided to place upon you and your children's
shoulders. It is a ship of their making. Let them sink in it.

Stand up now, face the North and point right. That is the direction you must head.

Find the nearest state that still respects your right to work, a state that is not overrun with union bosses who claim they
are your keeper. Perhaps Arizona or Utah, South Carolina, Texas or Florida-find a place that still respects the individual
and does not believe that killing job creators is sound economic policy.

Leave Barbara Boxer and Jerry Brown and Nancy Pelosi and all their cannibals behind you. Let the San Francisco elitists
dine on their Delta Smelts if they can. Give the unions their Jerry Brown and his fascist regime and let them continue
their boycott of states who choose to enforce their laws-then reciprocate.

There is nothing in California left that you need. The cattle? Nebraska beef is better. The lettuce? Grow your own.
Disneyland? Orlando's better. Hollywood entertainment? Read a book.

It is time to let California sink under the tyrannical weight of its own Democratic Party principles. You do not need to be
part of it. Leave. Now. It is time for California's creators to shrug.

"If you saw Atlas, the giant who holds the world on his shoulders, if you saw that he stood, blood running down his
chest, his knees buckling, his arms trembling but still trying to hold the world aloft with the last of his strength, and the
greater his effort the heavier the world bore down on his shoulders-what would you tell him to do?" "To Shrug."

I say this to you, my California friends and family: Time is short. Leave.
