Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

This lesson is engaging and inclusive. If using website or app that keeps student anonymous, it will encourage
more students to participate. No one wants to be wrong in front of the entire class. So keeping it anonymous
helps that. Students also want to be correct In front of everyone. It will keep them eager to learn so they can
show off how much they know. It allows students with all abilities and disabilities to participate and feel
comfortable.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
I will make sure students are familiar with Kahoot and have used it in the classroom before. We will spend
time in class talking about the civil rights era and the 13, 14, 15th amendments. This will get them ready for
their reading at home and the quiz to make sure they are doing their homework and understanding the
content.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☒ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

In class, after reading the assigned passage about the civil rights amendments, students will be directed to
take the Kahoot quiz. It is only a 4 question quiz. It is not a pass or fail quiz but there to see what people are

learning or what we might need to spend more time on. The questions are multiple choice and are not made
to trick them. As long as they read the passage, the quiz should be a breeze.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
After everyone finishes, we will have a class discussion about the quiz. We will go over the questions and
what the correct answers were.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the activity, I will use the results to see if we should spend any more time on the subject. If students
seem to be grasping the importance of the amendments, then we will move onto the next part of the
standard.

How will the data be used?

As stated before, the data will be used to monitor the student’s progress. It is not a graded quiz, but one that
will help me track data on the class as a whole.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

I will learn how to monitor class progress as a whole while making it a game for everyone. Allowing them to
battle each other with the quiz, motivates them to do well. It also allows me to see if we are ready to move
onto the next subject or not.

Reflective Practice:
This is a great activity to keep everyone engaged. Students are more likely to pay attention if something is
turned into a game. Humans are competitive by nature. It is something I could use to keep the classroom on
topic and focused. It is also a great way to track classroom and individual progress.
