About the crochet terms
I use US crochet terms for my patterns. However, as you may know US crochet terms are different than UK crochet
terms. Here is a chart for you to see them both.
Abbreviations Used
Work in continuous rounds. Do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed. It would be wise to use a stitch marker &
place it in the first stitch of the round to mark the beginning of it. Move the marker up to the first stitch of the next round
after finishing the previous one.
If you need to change colour, do it always at the end of the previous round. Start the last stitch of the round with the old
colour. Change the colour right before you draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch.
You can easily sew the toy together when you leave each piece a long enough yarn tail.
Stitch Explanation
Invisible decrease: Insert the hook into the **front loop** of the first stitch (2 loops on hook). **Do NOT yarn over**
Insert the hook into the **front loop** of the next stitch. In order to do this, you’ll need to swing the hook down first so
you can insert the hook under the front loop. (3 loops on hook)
Yarn over & draw through the first two loops on the hook. (2 loops on hook)
Yarn over & draw through both loops on the hook. You’ve done your invisible decrease.
Increase: Two single crochet into one stitch.
Comments
In this pattern most of the parts start with a magic ring. If you don’t want to use that, you can easily start like this:
P.S. *2 sc, inc* meaning: *sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st*

Foot Step One
Push the open end together, chain 2 – skip the sc which we Cut a little long yarn tail to fasten off.
crocheted at the beginning of the 7th round & crochet over
the opening.
Leave a 10cm long yarn tail for sewing the foot & the leg together.
Slip st into the Slip Knot to join / form a ring & sc in each st around the chain ring [9 sts]
***After the 1st round sew the leg onto the foot by using the little yarn tail we left just before making the chain***

1st photo, sl knot is just below the 1st ch
3rd photo, leg is sewn onto the foot after the 1st rounds of the
leg is crocheted
7: We won’t be crocheting in spiral rounds for a little while as we’re now creating his kneecap
4 sc, 3 hdc, ch 1 – turn back 3 hdc, ch 1 – turn back 3 sc – pick up one st, now you’ve 2 loops on the hook – pick up one more st, now you’ve 3 loops
on the hook – yarn over withdraw the yarn through 3 loops you’ve on the hook. ( I call this invisible slip stitch decrease & we’ll be repeating this on
the other side of the kneecap as well )
8: 4 sc ( these were left un-worked ) Repeating what we did on the other side of the kneecap, pick up 2 sts you now have 3 loops on the hook. Yarn
over & withdraw the yarn through 3 loops.
6 sc [11 sts]
Start filling the leg & add more stuffing as you crochet the other rounds.
*** Leave a little yarn tail for the first leg to sew the gap between the two legs***
***When you finished the second leg do NOT cut the yarn as we’ll join the both legs together to create his body***

After keep turning to create the kneecap this
is the shape you should end up with.
All the stitches are picked up and we
have 11 single crochet stitches
Joining The Legs, Crocheting The Body & Head Step Three
*** I’ve joined the legs this way as he is always on the run. If you wish you can join the legs straight ( looking front ) ***
1: 1 sc, take the first leg & count 4 sts backward ( from left to right )
Start filling & add more stuffing as you crochet the other rounds.
Cut a long enough yarn tail to close the hole by going through front loops only of the 5 sts & pull tightly to fasten off.

Joining the legs Head & body are done
8-12: Sc around ( 5 rounds in total ) [9 sts] 15-22: Sc around ( 8 rounds in total ) [9 sts]
Now we are creating the elbow which is same as the kneecap. For his right arm: 3 sl st, 5 hdc, 1 sl st [9sts]

For his left arm: When you come to the last round ( 22nd ) it’s
Cut a long enough yarn tail for both arms for sewing.
Now it’s time to sew the loose fingers ( thumbs ) on his hands.
Right Hand ( Arm ): Sew the finger inside of his arm, below elbow.
Left Hand ( Arm ): Sew the finger out side of his arm next to
elbow.
Right Arm, finger goes inside Left Arm finger goes out side
Colour Taupe
1: Leave a little tiny yarn tail. Slip knot, ch 8 [8 sts] Turn back
1 sc – hdc – 3 dc – hdc – 1 sc – ch 2 sl st into the 1st ch you made, this is to create a little picot.
Carry on crocheting on the other side of the chain. Front loops only
1 sc – hdc – 3 dc – hdc – 1 sc – sl st into the next st to finish. Leave a little yarn tail to attach the leaves onto the stalks.
Mr. Ch 2 counts as the first hdc – 7 hdc [8 sts] Sl st into ch 2 to join & finish. Leave a long enough thread tail for sewing.
Mr. 3 sc [3 sts] Cut a long enough thread tail for sewing the pupils onto the white parts.
Eyes: Start counting from top ( just below you see the front loop stitches ) to down & sew the eyes between 5th & 7th lines.
Sew the eyes with whip stitch by going through both loops of the white piece. Leave 2 holes between the eyes.
Page Eight
TatieSoftToys2016
Nose: Leave only one line between the nose and the eyes & sew the nose more or less in the middle of the eyes.
Use the 6 holes right below the nose, create the nose by going in and out of the 1st & the 6th holes twice. In order to form a smiley lip go down
to the second hole & make 3 little fly stitches.
It’s pretty much like embroidering the mouth. Use 3 holes just above the eyes & go in and out twice to get the thickness we want. And then into
the hole above make a little fly stitch to create a nice eyebrow shape.
As you can see in the photos his eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth are nicely done. Also his arms are sewn.
Arms: Leave 2 lines between the bottom of his lip and the arms. Sew the arms nicely on each side of his body.
***Remember to sew the right arm on his right side and the left arm on his left side***

Leaves & Stalks:
1: Sew the leaves on the stalks & secure by making a double knot
with the both yarn tails (we have two yarn tails on the leaf, one we
are sewing with and the other one we left before we made the
chain) on the back side of the leaf.
2: As for the stalks, thread the long yarn tail through an embroidery
needle & make two stitches in the middle / inside of the two stalks
(inside V shape) to bring the two stalks together and make the
whole stalk sturdier.
3: Sew one of the stalks with the leaves in the middle back side of
his head. Sew the other stalk with leaves on his left arm just above
his elbow.
