Should The Education 4.0 Be Applied In Faculty of Education and


Teacher Training of Tidar University?

Have you ever heard about education 4.0? Yeah it is the most recent education
version in the world. Education 4.0 is a term that is used to describe various ways to integrate
cyber technology whether it is physically or not. Digital class era, assistant robot, and online
examination are some of the forms of education 4.0. Maybe it is a new way of future
education, but we have to believe that applying this method in our lovely faculty is incorrect
decision. Why? Well we will discuss it now.

Regardless the sophisticated appearance of education 4.0, we have to realize that to


apply this method is not as easy as turning our palms. First, we need to provide the facilities
to run this system. The facilities here are not about five or ten computers, but both for the
teacher and students, each of them should have their own facilities. The problem is not all of
them have the same capability in providing the facilities. It will make a new difficulty for
some people in their learning.

Second, we will spend more money in learning. Since education 4.0 is based on
flexibility learning, it means we will use online learning often. We should pay for the
equipment like computer and we must also prepare our quota to be available all the time in
which we have to buy it, right? So, it is a little bit expensive for us as a student.

Third, education 4.0 makes less of our healthy. By using online learning, it means that
we do learning by using gadget or other electronic equipments. It makes us do less activities
except only overlooking the gadget screen. Well, we know that it is not good for our eyes,
and certainly our body. Even it can cause obesity because we do nothing.

Fourth, learning is more than only study about materials, but we should do what
called social communication and team-work. While in education 4.0 we know that there is
minim of learning class or even none. So, we can say that it does not support the student’s
communication and social skill, because there is less of real interaction. Even though there is
still interaction via online, but it is different, it can not represent the sense completely.
Last but not least, education 4.0 has weakness in the effectiveness of learning. The
purpose of education upgrade is to make learning process easier and more effective for
students. In fact, the materials delivering indirectly it is not better than direct meeting. For
example, if the students have difficulties in learning they need to be helped by their teacher,
and get teacher’s instructure. It is not problem if we do class learning, because we can ask the
teacher directly. We can clarify all the problems until it fixed. While online communication is
a little bit complicated, it has a higher risk of misunderstanding also. However, direct
communication is more clear than indirect communication.

Education 4.0 maybe is claimed as the future education, it has a sophisticated concept.
Nevertheless, we have to examine its plus and minus before we apply it. Looking from our
needs and capability view, education 4.0 is not the appropriate decision, because it has many
weakness and does not match with our situation and condition now.
