I was very interested to read your advertisement in yesterday’s Kompas for a secretary and would you
please allow me to apply for this post.

I am 20 years of age and unmarried. After leaving my Senior High School in Bandung, I took a year’s
Secretarial Course at The Lembaga Penndidikan Sekretaris Bandung and later worked for two years a
junior secretary with a National Firm and for the last three years I have been private secretary to Mr.
Shimitzu, The Managing Director of a Leading Banjaran Cotton Mill. As he is retiring at the end of this
year I am looking for the position where my qualification can be used.

I have a speed of 60 word per minute (w.p.m) in typing and 100 w.p.m in shorthand and I am of course
thoroughly experience in all types of secretarial duties.

I enclose two copies of testimonial one from my former headmaster and one from Mr. Shimitzu and
they have kindly agreed to me giving their names for references. And they would be pleased to give you
any assistance in informing any inquiries regarding my character, personality and experience.
