Costa, Diogo. “How Smartphones Are Really Changing the World.” Tech.

co, 10 June 2016,

tech.co/news/smartphones-really-changing-world-2016-06.

When Diogo said “technologies provoking a true revolution to our society,” made me think
about how every time you turn around walking through places the phones has over taken
each person just about, everyone depends on their phones nowadays. I understand taking
pictures and using the phone here and there but do not be on it all the time especially if you
are our exploring with family, give the phone a break. Spend some quality time with the
people around you. I know some teens do not know how to give their phones up because it
is all they know but honestly it is not something to be all about.

DiGiulio, Sarah. “Your Smartphone Is Changing the Human Race in Surprising Ways.”

NBCNews.com, NBCUniversal News Group, 2017, www.nbcnews.com/storyline/the-big-

questions/your-smartphone-may-actually-be-changing-human-race-n743866.

Sarah stated “our relationship with technology affects how we communicate. But also affects the
deeper ways we interact and connect with people”, according to Dr. Sherry Tuckle. Phones
has affected how we do our daily thing each day. It is crazy you see just about every person
interacting with their phones and barely with the people around them. When Sarah said
“One 2014 study followed 51 kids who spent five days at an outdoor camp – no phones or
laptops allowed. After time spent away from technology, the child were better able to read
facial expressions and identify emotions that they were shown compared to a group of kids
that didn’t attend camp,” while reading this article it caught my eye because it is so many
kids that rather play games and be on the phone then outdoors.

“How Smart Phones Changed Our World.” InfiniGEEK, InfiniGEEK, 29 May 2018,

infinigeek.com/smart-phones-changed-world/.

Infinigeek has this quote in this article from Carrie Underwood “My bestfriend is my cell
phone, it is my lifeline to the outside world,” like how could you depend on your phone so
much? I honestly love spending time with family and I am not always on my phone when that
time comes because you never know when you’re last day is on this earth because each person
has their own time of when they will not be here and you have no idea when that will be. Spend
time with your family while you can! That cell phone can wait, put it down for a little bit. When
infinigeek said “you can image, of course, how important smartphones are to the economy in
direct and obvious ways.” It is crazy how you see young kids with a tablet or a smartphone, and
know how to use it without any help. Most kids now rather be playing a xbox or on phone then
being outside riding bikes or playing with other kids.

“Impact of Smartphones on Society - Use of Mobile Phones.” Top Software Development

Company India, 12 Dec. 2018, www.keyideasinfotech.com/blog/impact-of-smartphone-on-

society/.

In this article when it said “80 % of the world’s population has a mobile device, it is an
unreal number but then I thought well most of young kids have cell phones already as of the
parents. Even some grandparents use smart phones. Social impact of today is totally different
because they are either talking about something on their phone or sharing things on their phone.
This numbers are unreal but are believable because of today’s world. The world has changed
completely with these new phones.

Katz, James Everett. Machines That Become Us: the Social Context of Personal Communication

Last few years in this world cell phones have changed so much with how people are with
one another now. “The mobile phone has turned into a necessity in their daily life and checking
for text- messages has come to be a daily routine” (Katz and Aakhus 2002). People depend on
this small piece of technology so much, with everything that is going on around them. The age
groups is not really no different now, just about each age groups has a new smart phone to do
their daily thing with the cell phone.

Ling, Richard. The Mobile Connection: the Cell Phone's Impact on Society. Elsevier, 2008.

I have my grandparents told me many stories of how they used to have a house phone
that was on the wall and you had to turn the whole dial all the way around to just dial the one
number, they always say it is nothing like it used to be for us back then compared to now. “As
we will see, the mobile telephone is more than simply a technical innovation or a social fab”
(Ling). This mobile telephone is everyone’s world now, they use it for everything. A lot has
changed from my grandparents time to what we use them for in today’s world.
Matteson, Scott. “10 Ways Mobile Devices Are Changing Society.” TechRepublic, 2014,

www.techrepublic.com/article/10-ways-mobile-devices-are-changing-society/.

Scott started off with saying “we always know how to get there” and he is right we use our
phones to get places, and now we know how to get their easily because it is right there in our
hands. When he said “we can buy anything at any time” which is true because all we have to do
it look it up and skip it to our house. Some still goes out and shop but most just has it shipped to
them. It is so many good things in this article. With these phones you have everything you need
right in your hand to look up or look at.

Phillips, Casey. “How Smartphones Revolutionized Society in Less than a Decade.” Government

Technology State & Local Articles - E.Republic, 2014, www.govtech.com/products/How-

Smartphones-Revolutionized-Society-in-Less-than-a-Decade.html.

This article discuss how smart phones is basically a “pocket size PC.” It is crazy how many
people have smart phones especially at a young age nowadays. Although most people now work
from their phones nonstop, it is crazy how much you can do on these phones. Casey said that the
U.S. estimated that a smartphone now sits in about two-thirds of American adults’ pockets. It is
absolutely crazy how much people use their phones for, from talking to people or watching tv,
Facebook, Instagram and other apps that they use daily.
