A Study between Vermicomposting of Eudrilus Eugeniae and Philippine

Cattle Manureas Organic Fertilizer for the Better Growth of
Lycopersicum Esculentum at Trece Martires City.

Statistical Analysis

Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is a statistical technique that is used to check if the

means of two groups are significantly different from each other. ANOVA checks the impact
checks if the means of two groups are significantly different from each other. ANOVA checks
the impact of one or more factors by comparing the means of different samples.

We can use Analysis of variance (ANOVA) to prove or disprove if all the treatments
such as Vermicomposting of Eudrilus eugeniae, Philippine Cattle manure and soil only were
equally effective or not in the growth of Lycopersicum esculentum (tomato plant) in terms of
stem length and no. leaf.

Below mentioned formula represents one way Anova test statistics:

MST
F
MSE

Where,

F= Anova Coefficient

MST= Mean sum of square due to treatment

MSE= Mean sum squares due to error

Formula for MST is given below:

SST   n  x  X 
2

SST
MST 
p 1
Where,

SST= Sum of squares due to treatment

p= total number of populations

n= the total number of samples in a population

Formula for MST is given below:

SSE    n  1S 2

SSE
MSE 
Np

Where,

SSE= Sum of squares due to error

S= Standard deviation of the samples

N= total number of observations

Objectives of the Study

a) Is there a significant difference between the Stem lengths of Tomato Plant with
Vermicomposting of Eudrilus eugeniae, Philippine Cattle manure and soil only?

b) Is there a significant difference between the Numbers of Leaf of Tomato Plant with
Vermicomposting of Eudrilus eugeniae, Philippine Cattle manure and soil only?

c) Where shows the better growth of Lycopersicum esculentum between Vermicomposting of

Eudrilus eugeniae, Philippine Cattle Manure or with soil only in terms of Stem lengths, Numbers
of Leaf and Numbers of Yield?
1. Does the given treatments have potential for the better growth of Lycopersicum esculentum?

Null hypothesis: Treatments does not have a potential for the better growth of
Lycopersicum esculentum in terms of no. of leaf and stem length

Alternative hypothesis: Treatments have a potential for the better growth of

Lycopersicum esculentum in terms of no. of leaf and stem length

df Sum Sq Mean Sq F value Pr(>F)

No. of leaf 2 700 350 0.034 0.967

Residuals 33 340780 10327

df Sum Sq Mean Sq F value Pr(>F)

Stem Length 2 0.9 0.47 0.0008 0.992

Residuals 33 1873.6 56.77

The treatments with significant differences are those that have P-value that are less than
0.05. According to the result, we failed to reject the null hypothesis since the no. of leaf obtained
a p-value of 0.967 and the stem length obtained a p-value of 0.992 which is greater than to 0.05.
Therefore, we can conclude that the treatments which are Vermicomposting of Eudrilus
eugeniae, Philippine Cattle manure and soil only have no potential for the better growth of
Lycopersicum esculentum in terms of no. of leaf and stem length.

Since the three treatments have no potential for the better growth of Lycopersicum
esculentum in terms of no. of leaf and stem length we can also conclude that there is no
significance difference between the three treatments.
2. Where shows the better growth of Lycopersicum esculentum in Vermicomposting of Eudrilus
eugeniae, or with Philippine Cattle Manure as Fertilizer in terms of Stem lengths, Numbers of
Leaf and Numbers of Yield?

Mean
Treatments
no. of leaf Stem Length Yield
Vermicast 116.5 13.083 46

Cattle Manure 115.8 12.833 43

Soil only 106.8 13.225 17

According to the result, Vermicomposting of Eudrilus eugeniae is the best fertilizer for
the growth of Lycopersicum esculentum in terms of stem length, no. of leaf and yield with the
mean of 13.083, 13.083 and 46 respectively.

A Study between Vermicomposting of Eudrilus Eugeniae and Philippine

Cattle Manureas Organic Fertilizer for the Better Growth of
Lycopersicum Esculentum at Trece Martires City

On the 16th day of February, it is the first day that we will find some clients. Our first
destination is Trece Martires City National High School. When we talked to the research adviser
of all the senior high school students, she said that there are only five groups that need a
statistician so we decided to go to another schools. We went to other schools in Trece but their
research advisers said that the research of their students is already done.

On the 22nd day of February, me and my friend decided to go to Notre Dame to look for a
client. First, we talked to the research advisers of all senior high school students in Notre Dame
and when the research adviser saw our letter, they let us to meet their students. We met them in
their designated rooms and we start our consultation. Many students asked me if their
questionnaire is appropriate to use to their studies. After I read some of their questionnaire, I
noticed that the questionnaire did not meet the objectives of their study. So, I advised them to
look for another questionnaire that will meet the objectives of their studies and I suggest also that
the questionnaire must be standardized to avoid running reliability test. After we finished the
consultation, one of my classmates gave her contact number to Ms. Presto because students in
Notre Dame are not allowed to give their contact number.

It is almost 4 days when we met the students in notre dame but their research adviser did
not contact us yet so we decided to go to Notre Dame again. We talked to Ms. Irene who is
research coordinator, she decided that she will give the contact number of the student so that we
can talk directly to them if there is a problem or consultation.

After I chose my client, I contact and asked them if they are already have data in their
study. My client said that their data is not yet complete because their target week in their
experiment is 12 weeks.

On the 15th day of March, my client sends their data after their 12 weeks of experiment.
On the next day, I run the data and finished the results. On the 18th day of March, sir Hernan
checked the result that I made. He said that no need to include Tukey Multiple Comparison of
Means if there is no significant in anova test. On the same day, I finalized the result of my client
so that I can give it to them tomorrow morning.

On the 16th day of March, I met my client at SM Trece to give their result. I explain to
them the result and some changes in their objectives. After I explain the result and answered
their questions, they said that they are very thankful because I helped them to their research. I am
very overwhelmed after I heard that they are very thankful that I helped them in their research,
even though I am not yet a statistician I am happy because I helped them as much as I can.

As a student consultant I encountered some difficulties and problems. On my first couple

of days, I had a hard time finding a client. I also encountered some problems in running the data
because the data did not meet some of the objective but luckily I found some solution by the help
of my professor.
