A group of children found some farm colouring pictures
and then decided that it was good idea to put them on sticks. I thought it was a great idea to and supplied more sticks and glue. This experience drew in a large crowd. Children carefully coloured and then cut out each individu- al animal and stuck their own sticks on. They were all very proud of their work. As we all worked together, we talked about the animals, helped younger children and discussed what we could do with all the pieces once finished. I col- lected them all up and they were used as prop for mat time. The children were very proud of their work and liked having them to hold on to while singing Old MacDonald had a farm. The whole group were so focussed on the task, they all took great care to colour neatly and cut around the shapes which was a challenge! I love that the children have been able to contribute to their own mat time experience. The groups creativity inspired this experience, which I was then able to roll with extending them to create song props. We talked about making props for other songs too, but as it was a lovely sunny day we will need to revisit this anoth- er day.
