IMPORTANT
Notes concerning the alarm system
Dysfunctions, malfunctions or faulty settings in climate-controlled livestock houses
may cause substantial damage and financial losses. It is therefore essential to
install a separate, independent alarm system that monitors the house concurrently
with the climate control system. Please note that the product liability clause of the BIG
DUTCHMAN terms and conditions of sale and delivery specifies that an alarm system
must be installed.
Observe the valid law of the respective country regarding the minimum requirements
for emergency and alarm systems.

Only use the reset button in emergencies, e.g. if it is not possible to turn
the Farm Controller off.
Before connecting and starting the Farm Controller, remove the transportation lock.
To do this, open the Controller by loosening the two large screws at its rear.
Slide the cover backwards and loosen the screw bolted to the drive slot and the note
(pos. 1 in the following figure).
1.3 Connecting the Farm Controller and the control unit with a patch
or a crossover cable
Use a so-called crossover cable to connect the Farm Controller with the control unit.
In such a cable, the wires are crossed, which makes it possible to connect two active
components (Controller and control unit). If there are several houses on the farm,
usually a hub or a switch are used to collect and transfer data.
These switches and hubs are passive. You can therefore use a standard Ethernet or
patch cable with RJ45 plugs and 1:1 direct cable connection.
Check the voltage before connecting the Controller to the power supply. You can select
whether you want to use 230 V or 115 V with a switch at the rear of the Controller.
Check the type plate on the mains input of the Controller to see at what voltage
it must be operated.
! Note
Big Dutchman recommends using an uninterruptible power supply
(UPS) to keep the PC running in case of a power failure.
1.5 UPS unit for Controller, control unit and hub or switch
To avoid any problems if the power fails, always keep the AMACS system connected
to a UPS unit.
Please make sure that the Controller and the control unit in the house are connected
to their specific UPS units at all times.
If there are other active components like switches or hubs within the farm network,
ensure that they are also connected to their UPS units.
The AMACS software is pre-installed on the Controller. Turn the Controller on after
you have removed the transportation lock, ensured power supply and connected
all plugs correctly.
Set the black mains switch at the rear of the Controller to 1 and then push the ON / OFF
button behind the lockable door at the Controller's front.
The computer starts and loads the AMACS software automatically.
!
Caution
All old data on the Farm Controller are deleted!
Before re-installing, please check whether you have a copy (backup) of
your old production data.
After a moment, the screen shown in the previous figure comes up. Confirm the
question Are you really sure to install now? with YES. The question Overwrite
project data with CD-ROM project? must also be answered with YES. If you answer
this question with NO, the computer will boot up normally and the CD can be removed
from the drive.
To turn off or to reboot the Farm Controller, click on the red taskbar button in the lower
right corner of the screen. In the menu which comes up, you have several options.
To fade in the taskbar, move the cursor to the lower right-hand corner
of the screen.

In the window open now, start the program "web browser", which is marked with green
(G) in the previous figure.
The setup menu is password-protected. Enter the default password as shown in the
following figure.
This password can be changed. However, Big Dutchman recommends continuing to
use the default password as the danger that a third party changes the settings is
relatively low.
If you do change the password, please keep it in a safe place. It is very difficult to
recover a lost password.
