A. MEANING ANALYSIS:
“An opinion that someone offers you about what you should do or
how you should act in a particular situation:

I need some advice on which computer to buy.
[ + to infinitive ] My advice is to go by train.
We went to Paris on Sarah's advice.”

B. MEANING I would give a brief, concrete, example and incorporate mime into it
ILLUSTRATION: “I didn’t know how to stop the noise made by the hinges of my parent’s
main door, so James gave advice (mine here!) on how to do it and told me
what to use.”

C. MEANING CHECK: - Did I know how to stop the noise made by the hinges? No.
- Did James give advice on how to do it right? Yes.
- Did James tell me what to use? Yes.

D. FORM ANALYSIS: Advice is an uncountable noun, so:


▪ it is never used in the plural
▪ it never comes after an or a number
